Magic is controlled manipulation of the energies and entities of the Earth and Elements, to achieve a preconceived goal. Magic should only ever be performed, Consciously, Honestly and absolutely without Malice Hatred or Greed. Magic is granted by the Gods only when it is just or needed.
The unconscious or subconscious abuse of energy, Magic or Power is simply a complete disregard for the Magic itself. If you do not learn to control yourself, your feelings and your thoughts, or you seek to control the feelings or thoughts of others, then you have no right to stand before a Magical Altar and attempt to create any kind of Magic. If you misuse your knowledge or fail to learn properly that which you need to know to successfully work on a magical level, your workings will be either ineffective, destructive or returned to you, most often 3 fold.
Black Magic is the perverted manipulation of natural forces to bring about change that is only of the benefit to the one whom initiates it. In truth there is no such thing as Black Magic, only the dark intentions of the person who performs it. Magic is neither Black nor White. It has NO COLOUR, and then again it is ALL COLOURS. It bears only the intention of its creators, what ever that may be.
There is no room in any Temple for any persons of any level or tradition to attempt to challenge or misuse the powers of the Earth, the Elements, or the God and Goddess.
A candle invokes the divine forces. Creates a sense of ceremony, and are pretty to look at. They also help clarify your hearts desire and allow you to focus.
There are many ways of approaching Candle Magic, and as you progress through your Craft life, you will find what works for you. To start you along your way, I have written the foundations and how I use Candles for Magical work. This is the way I do it, it is not written in stone, but it is a useful guideline.
As with all Magical work, you must have your Intention, the reason why you are doing the working.
You will also need to prepare, get together all the things you are going to need, i.e. Candle, scribing tool, oil, and lastly if you are going to use a photo or anything else that is linked to the work or the person you are doing it for.
