Teaching HTML

The mind is not a vessel to be filled,
but a fire to be kindled.
~ Plutarch

From Bev
Thank you Bev! You were a jewel of a student!

This is a very special area of my web site, that part dedicated to the teaching aspect of my Web Odyssey! I worked hard to qualify as an HTML instructor, and I am proud to say that I now teach both basic and advanced classes in HTML.WebTech University HTML 101 Instructor

What is HTML, you ask? It is HyperText Markup Language, the code that tells our browsers how to display web pages on the computer screen.

I have been making my own web pages since about they year 2000, so I guess you could say this is a skill I learned for the new millenium! I taught myself how to make a web page by going to various tutorial sites, and in good part by haunting the site of the World Wide Web Consortium, the folks who set the standards for HTML and other languages used to program web pages.

After I had been working on my own for a while I decided to polish up my skills a bit, and I ended up taking a bunch of courses at WebTech University, which is where I now teach.

An Apple for the Teacher
Thank You, Alita!

At WebTechU we have students from all over the world, and we teach them all free of charge. Knowledge shared and not hoarded is a very important thing to me. I was a supporter before ever I became a WebTech instructor, precisely because this is a wonderful place where everybody has free access to our knowledge base.

Courses are given by email, and combine an online lecture with hands on practice. Even students in the most basic class know how to make a basic web page by the time they are finished. All students get individual attention, too, because we instructors grade each assignment separately and communicate with each student on a regular basis. You shy folks need not worry about “going back to school”, either, because the only person who ever has to see your work is the instructor. It's like having a private tutor!

I want the ladies out there to know that both women and men can master web design! The realm of computers and the internet is not the exclusive domain of men. As proof of that fact, let me tell you that we have many women instructors at WebTechU, and even women in the position of Dean and Assistant Dean of the university!

WebTech University Advanced HTML InstructorAs much as women are encouraged to take courses with us, those of you who are “of a certain age” (as we would say here in Quebec) are also quite welcome at WebTech. Please don't think that an old dog can't learn new tricks! Many of the folks I've had the privilege to meet through WebTech are no longer in their twenties and fresh out of college. I have met many parents and also many grandparents, a good number of whom have only recently learned about HTML. Our Assistant Dean of HTML classes at WebTech likes to describe herself as a sweet grandmother, and that she is! She started learning to make web pages only a few years ago herself!

If you would like to get more details about free HTML or PaintShop Pro (PSP) classes at WebTech University, please visit http://webtechu.com or click on any of my instructor graphics, throughout this web site. If you would like an idea of what you will learn to do in the classes, please take a look at my own homework pages, from when I was taking the classes myself.

A Thank You From Texas Princess
