Wow.
I never thought I’d be writing
this. But I am.
Today is the birth date of the newest Redwall e-zine, Yn Nor. Of course, you’re probably wondering what the heck Yn Nor means. Actually, it doesn’t really mean anything, but in the fantasy language that I created for my stories, it means The Pen. I found it rather fitting, as this is not just a Redwall e-zine. It’s more about writing than anything, though there will always be a Redwall article included and other Redwall-themed items.
This month will be a little odd as far as articles go—many of them are by me due to the fact that some of my writers slacked off and others…well, they don’t exist yet. (See the last two sentences of this article!) Next month I hope to have their pieces as well as mine in Yn Nor’s pages.
So what about the future? What should you expect in each issue?
First, you can nearly always read a
story review, be it Redwall fan-fiction or something set in an author’s own
universe. And that is far from the only
writing-based article you’ll see; nay, included in every issue will be at least
two pieces of fiction, one of which will be a Redwall fan-fic. Every once in a while, you may follow a
chaptered story, written by one or several authors. One or two article spots will be dedicated to
helping writers hone their talent.
Fidget has begun a poem series on the rules of punctuation, which should
be truly interesting to follow.
Reading Yn Nor, you’ll be up to
date on the top stories in the Redwall world, such as what to expect from the
next novel or what’s up with the rumors about a movie. One of our reporters will extend your reading
list every month by reporting on a book they thought was exceptionally good
(or, occasionally, exceptionally horrid, but then it shouldn’t extend your
reading list!). And some talented artist
will be featured every month in our artist review, along with some samples of
their work (with permission).
Finally, you can learn about the
spotlight website, be it Redwall or writing-related or perhaps just a
reporter’s random choice, and visit it after reading the review to see if you
agree. Spring Brookring, our resident
humor columnist, is going to turn into our resident rambler as she discusses
names used in the R(edwall)O(online)C(ommunity). You may also see some of the artwork of the
talented Windsong, including our wonderful logo, displayed around the site. Upon occasion, you may also be invited to send
in some news or other tidbit that you’d like to share.
If you’d like to comment on any of our articles this month, or just leave a note, visit the forum. And if you’d like to contribute to Yn Nor in the future, contact Vitora/Willow, the editor, at willows_the_golden_pen@yahoo.com.
Thank you for taking the time to visit Yn Nor!
