The
Obligatory Article
Otherwise
known as “Editor’s Note”
Or, “News
and Updates”
Heh, if
Deyna and Cyra hadn’t been able to write their articles this month, we would
have looked like an advertising agency. Sheesh. As it is,
we’ve got some exciting new features to announce in this issue.
Care to
take a look?
Our usual
lineup is still around, of course—Spring’s got her usual What’s In a Name (this
time on real-life names), Ben Miff contributes a lovely (is that the word I really want to use?) article on
villain-ness, and Fidget gives us an excellent SPAG poem on a word that might
be confusing to some of you, “there” and its many variations on spelling. SolegaleMoon’s next installment of her
fan-fic is here as well, and it is an excellent
one, I might add.
Vitora has
an article on point of view, and Northwind of Otters has contributed a very
useful commentary on the merits (and drawbacks) of outlining. Miss Brookring has given us yet another
hilarious humor article, and finally, Geo Holmes contributed a touching
story/article about the next generation of ROCers.
On to the announcements.
The Golden Pen will be springing two new features on readers, both
coming before too late into next month.
One is called RP First Aid, and will be a place for—oh, go and read the
article already! No need for me to be
repetetive here.
The other
is one that I consider more exciting.
The Golden Pen is holding its first survivor contest, a science fiction
story featuring human characters, called The Brink. You can sign up for it by reading the article
and clicking on the link at the bottom of said page.
One more
note before I let you go: Strider has created the beautiful cover for this
month, as well as the logo you’ll see above the article list. Many thanks to him for the
excellent images. And Vitora and
her newfound love for Photoshop 6.0 teamed up to make the logo on this very
page, and you’ll probably see more of her work in the months to come.
If you
would like to contribute to Yn Nor, ask questions
related to the e-zine, website, or survivor contest, or contribute next month’s
cover, please email me at willows_the_golden_pen@yahoo.com. Also, you can discuss this issue at the forum—feedback on
articles is always welcome. Oh, and one
more thing (yep, I’m going to keep saying that…): if you want to directly send
in a cover, please leave all text off.
In case of two or more contributors, I would like to be able to use all
images I receive, and obviously not in the same month, so text (a title and
date, really) would simply mess things up.
Happy
Fourth of July, and have a fun, safe summer!
