The Obligatory Article

Otherwise known as “Editor’s Note”

Or, “News and Updates”

Ah, May.  The month that truly heralds summer’s approach (or retreat, depending on where you live), the final month of that lovely season we call spring.  And, might I add with some pride, the month of Yn Nor’s second issue.

Looks like we’ve got another very interesting lineup…

First off, there are two book reviews this month, one on Black Horses for the King, an Arthurian novel by Anne McCaffrey, and the other on The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, by Terry Pratchett.  Ben Miff joins his voice with ours by contributing a rather humorous article on plonkers—you know, those secondary characters that just have to mess things up.

Vitora (me!) adds three writing articles to the mix, regarding description, conflict, and secondary characters (do I see a running theme here?).  And we’re proud to begin including two chapters each month of SolaceMoon’s fan-fic about her character Mynede.  As she does not yet have a title, suggestions would be more than welcome.  The only other truly fictional work this month is the first half of Vitora’s “Triss in a Few Pages”.

Finally, Spring Brookring is back with two humor articles, one growling at those who use names from the Redwall books and the other on how to become a great Redwall warrior (tongue in cheek, of course).  Fidget adds her second SPAG poem as well.

Hope you enjoy the articles this month.  There are a few more announcements to make…

Starting mid-June, The Golden Pen may well be running a Survivor writing contest, similar to QBIII and ROC:S, only with human characters.  If you’re interested in applying or helping out, drop us an email at willows_the_golden_pen@yahoo.com.

Also, we’re going to start running a series similar to an advice column, so please submit your writing-/role playing-/Redwall-related questions to the email above.

            Enjoy the issue!
