Useful Terms to Add to Your Magickal Vocabulary
These are some terms that are used a lot when talking about Wicca--so commit them to memory. Haha!

Alter- A flat surface used only for ritual and or magickal purposes. It may be made of any material but many Wiccan tens to use natural objects, such as, a large flat stone or a tree sump.
Athame- (ath-uh-may) A black handled knife that has a double edge. It is usually used to cast a circle--not for  cutting or killing anything.
Boline- A white handled knife that is used for cutting herbs ir enscribing a candle. It sometimes resembles a  small sickle.
Cauldron- A cast iron kettle used by Witches for burning offerings or request papers, holding lit candles,       brewing potions and brews, burning insence, or for healing magick.
Cleansing/Consecration- The removal of all negative energies or entities from a person place or thing. This is often done to an athame before a ritual, along with other objects.
Deosil- (dgee-sul) To move in a clockwise direction.
Elements- Psychic energies connected with Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and spirit. It is said that all things are made from one or a combination of these elements. Click here to go to my element page!
Esbat- The moon rituals of the Wiccans. There are usually 13 per year. The one that occurs as the second full   moon of the month is called a Blue Moon and only happens once per year, if it even happenes--hence the            phrase "Once in a full Moon." These rituals are held to honnor the Goddess.
Sabbat- The eight holy sun holidays of the wiccan. They occur about once per month. These rituals are held to honnor the God.
Skyclad- This means clothed by the sky--Naked! Most Gardnerian covens practice this way.
