Still's Life
In 1844,after arriving in Philadelphia, Still worked as a handyman.
In three years, he recieved an appointment for secretary to the Pennsylvania Abolition Society
At the P.A.S.,Still interviewed slaves and kept careful records
In 1855, Still spent one year in Canada observing the life of escaped slaves
Later in his life, he established an orphanage for children of black soldiers and sailors.
He also established many YMCAs in the Philadelphia region
Four years before his death,he established the Mission Sabbath School, a place where young blacks could recieve an education
