Willow Rosenberg was born and raised in Sunnydale, California, by Ira and Sheila Rosenberg, by all accounts a strict Jewish couple.  Willow doesn't have a lot to say about them, but the fact that Mrs Rosenberg hadn't noticed that her daughter had had her hair cut for at least three months seems to speak for itself.  Originally a shy, reserved person, Willow has blossomed in her friendship with Buffy Summers, along with her first boyfriend, Oz.  Willow is an extremely intellegent girl.  Famed among the Slayerettes for her computer skills, Willow can always be counted upon for her tireless research into whatever the Hellmouth has spat out for Buffy to deal with. Willow's relationship with Xander Harris, whom she has known almost all her life, is complex to say the least.  She carried a tourch for him for years, but he was always blissfully ignorent of her feelings.  By the time he had figured out what was going on, she was already with Oz.  They briefly rekindled their relationship in senior year, unfortunately it was when Xander was going out with Cordelia Chase.  The kisses Xander and

Willow shared resulted in both the relationships ending, with Willow being the only one who could save her's with Oz. Willow's dabbling into the occult was kick started by her success in returning Angel's soul to him.  Her wiccan skills have gradually increased and have become a great asset  to the Slayer.  It was her interest in the occult which led her t o her current assistant Tara Maclay, a fellow Wicca.  Although the relationship had a few teething problems, i.e., Will0ow thinking that she wasn't bisexual, they have very string feelings for each other.  The pair moved in together in the second year of college.  They went through one of the worst

experimences of their lives together, when Glory, a god, made Tara insane in an attempt to find out who the Key , a magical energy source who Glory could use to break down dimesion walls, was.  Tara reverted to having a mental age of about 5, and Willow, who refused to abandon her, was on the receiving end of Tara's meaningless, and often violent, outbursts.  But Willow knew what she had to do, as she told Buffy in "Rough Love"; "I'm can do this.  I'm gonna take care of her, even if she never... she's my girl". They were eventually reunited at the end of the year, when Willow performed a spell to restore Tara's sanity.  Their relief at seeing each other again was obvious: Tara:  "Willow?  I got so                  lost". Willow:  "I found you.  I will                 always find you".

During season six, Willow and Tara's relationship deteriarated due to Willow's excessive use of magick.  It got to the point where Tara was forced to leave the other witch to protect herself.  After this dramatic turn of events, Willow decided to give up magick perminently, and although it was hard, she managed to stop completely, even when confronted with the biggest temptations.  After this period Willow and Tara got back together, but their happiness didn't last long.  A stray bullet meant for Buffy killed Tara.  Willow lost it completely and went on the rampage, killing a human and almost bringing about the end of the world.  It was only through the efforts of her bes friend Xander that she stopped, finally collapsing in tears.  What effect these events have had on her future remain to be seen.
