The following courtesies, while not rules, do allow some flexibility and are none-the-less expected of all club members during field operations: 1.Possession of any frequency shall be limited
to 15 minutes
at the field unless: 2.Use of any individual frequency shall rotate among the flyers present at the field at any given time, except when there are individual agreements between the flyers. 3.Use of the flight stations shall rotate among the flyers present at the field at any given time. 4.To the best extent possible, do not aim your prop wash at other modelers or their aircraft. For the same reason, do not place your airplane directly behind another modeler's aircraft. 5.All take-off and landing attempts should be announced to other flyers. 6.If a model must be carried out onto the runway for take-off, this intention shall be announced to give the other flyers time to clear the take-off area. 7.Anything you bring to the flying field should be removed when you depart. 8.No profanity is allowed at the field. |
1.You must have a current AMA membership card to fly at the MASH field. 2.You must be a MASH member or the guest of a member to fly at the field. 3.Flight boxes and model being prepared for flight shall be restricted to the pit area or parking area. Do not use picnic tables for assembly or other model use. These are for eating purposes only. 4.On arrival at the field, all transmitters shall be placed in the impound area with the antenna collapsed. Verity that the transmitter is turned off. 5.No transmitter shall be removed from the impound area until correct frequency is displayed and your AMA card is posted on the frequency board. 6.All transmitter antennas must display the frequency number of the transmitter. (It is also a good idea to have your name and phone number listed on the transmitter.) 7.When engines are stared and run up, keep bystanders behind the propeller arc. 8.Extended running of the engines in the pit is not allowed. Move off to the far side of the porta-potty. 9.Spectators are welcome but must remain in the designated areas. 10.No cars are allowed on the runway or in the pit area. |
1.All models must comply with the AMA safety requirements (no metal props, no knife-edge wings, etc.), and the MASH 10-point checklist. 2.All new models or models repaired after major damage, shall be inspected for structural integrity by a competent club member or instructor. 3.All radios newly
installed in a model or having been in
a model during a crash,
shall be range- 4.All internal combustion engines shall be equipped with a muffler. 5.No nylon propellers (unless reinforced by glass fibers) are permitted on engines over .35 cubic inch displacement. |
1.Taxiing a model through the pits or to and from the flight line is prohibited unless the modeler a firm grasp on the model with at least one hand. 2.Take-offs and landings should be made on the runway only in the direction paralell to the flight line. 3.Hand launching is permitted only from the runway or flight line. Positively NO hand launching from the pits. 4.Pilots must stand only at a flight station. Only pilots, instructors and spotters are permitted to stand in the pit areas. 5.No persons shall stand at the edge of the runway. 6.A landing aircraft has the right-of-way over an aircraft taking off. 7.A "dead-stick" aircraft has the right-of-way over all others. 8.When an engine quits in flight, shout "dead-stick" loudly several times to warn others of the mpending landing. 9.In any case of model malfunction in the
air (radio or mechanical),
promptly announce the 10.After landing, taxi the aircraft to either side of the flight station. Do not taxi directly into the flight stations. 11.Any person wishing to retrieve a model from the runway shall first announce his intent to the other flyers. Announce in a loud voice "on the field." 12.Engine restarts may be made on the flying

1.Pets shall be confined to the spectator area and shall be leashed or restrained at all times. 2.No person shall attempt to fly a model without being accompanied
by an instructor unless they 3.Smoking is allowed only in designated areas. 4.No member shall attempt to start an engine or fly a model while alone at the flying field until they have attained the intermediate flying proficiency level. It is also suggested for all members to consider complying with this rule to enhance the safety of our sport. FLYING ALONE COULD BE FATAL! 5.All landings should be on the runway centerline or as close as possible. 6.No landings should ever be made toward the pits. |
10 POINT CHECK LIST 1. Check engine, prop, mount, all bolts, muffler, fire wall, etc. 2.Check control surfaces for warping and rightness of hinges. 3. Check all landing gears, wheels, collars, and mounting screws. 4.Check all servos: mounted on hardwood only with or without trays; z-bend connections, devices or ball joints to servos on all flying surfaces (rudder optional on a 4-channel system); z-bends or clevises on models of over .40 cubic inch displacement. 5.Check pushrods for flexibility and ease of movement. 6.Check all clevises: the threaded end of push rod should be completely exposed through the clevis; all steel clevises must have a locking nut; all clevises must have a retainer, either a clip or a small piece of fuel tubing slipped over it and be fully snapped. 7.Check control horns for tightness, etc. 8. Check transmitter and receiver batteries: must be fully charged by way of manufacturers' specifications; all radio components should be secured from vibration by way of using foam padding, etc.; all receiver battery connections should be secured with either tape or clip; all servo extensions should be secured by clip or tape. 9.Check radio: obtain correct frequency pin, turn on radio and plane, then walk away from the plane at least 50 feet, with transmitter antenna down. Your plane should operate without glitches. Check for proper control surface deflection. This should be checked on trip to field before the first flight. 10.Check and make sure you have your name, address, and phone number along with your AMA number inside of or on your aircraft. Remember, all MASH members are responsible for the airworthiness of their aircraft. All MASH officers reserve the right to inspect any aircraft for these and any other safety precautions. |
