Smooth Surface

Here a simple way to create smooth surface for web web interface design.

Rectangle Shape

Create a new image of any size you want. In this example I use 400x400 px.

Select the Rectangle Tool (U) and draw a rectangle. Don't worry about the background color as this can be change later.

Now add a layer style.

There are 3 layer styles you need here:

• Inner Shadow
• Inner Glow
• Satin - optional

The settings:-

The most important effect is the Inner Glow. The Choke and Size will affect the overall result. Also set the Blend Mode to Normal.

The Satin style is optional:-

You can change the color of the rectangle by double-clicking on the layer's thumbnail.

Also try to play around with the above setting to make your rectangle looks more realistic and much more cooler.

Here is the final result:-
