My
Mr. Bean Bin

If
you are one of the few people who don't have an idea as to what Mr. Bean
is, then here's a brief introduction. Mr. Bean is a near-silent
British television comedy that revolves around an accident prone character
with a flair for causing trouble. The character of Mr. Bean is essentially
of a nine to ten year old child trapped in an adult body. That's why it
would be natural to see him enjoying kiddy carnival rides, reading adventure
comics, playing mini-golf and hugging a teddy bear. Having a very mechanical
mind, Mr. Bean also enjoys tinkering with different contraptions as well
as solving problems he encounters through mechanical means. Anyway, aside
from the regular series, several Mr. Bean specials as well as a
movie have been made.

the interest of decreasing the download time of this page, I decided to
move most of the Mr. Bean pictures
I have to another page.
Typical
Episode
A
typical Mr. Bean episode consists of three skits, with each usually having
a different setting. The pilot episode, originally aired on ITV in Britain
in December 31, 1989, introduced people to the most embarrassing man on
the planet, whose personality is a hideous
cocktail of viciousness, innocence and ingenuity. Whether he is in THE
EXAM, for which he doesn't know the answer to a single question,
or ON THE BEACH where he is trying to change into
swimming trunks without taking off his trousers, or in THE
CHURCH where he desperately tries to stay awake, Mr. Bean always
finds a way that no normal person would even contemplate.
Theme
Song
Remarks: The theme song lyrics below was found by Mark
Green in a Usenet group. Thank you Mark for letting me post the lyrics.
Opening
theme:
Ecce
homo qui est farba
(English
translation: Behold the man who is a bean.)
Closing
theme:
Vale
homo qui est farba
(English
translation: Farewell, man who is a bean.)
Opinion
Aside
from shows that make me reflect, I also like watching television shows
that make me laugh. And the antics of Mr. Bean certainly make me laugh.
The beauty of Mr. Bean is that it uses actions and body language rather
than words and dialogue in its comedy such that it is able to cross linguistic
barriers. In fact, audiences from two very different countries, like the
United Kingdom and Malaysia, can still relate in almost the same way to
the kind of humor found in the series. Another reason why I like Mr. Bean
and why it's so popular is that we ourselves are able to relate to his
character and experiences. Whether we admit it or not, we have a little
of Mr. Bean in us -- there are times when we also do silly things just
to cover up our mistakes or to make things go our way.
