Why is CS so popular? You might wonder why Counterstrike is so popular, its community and followers have grown at a very fast pace and continues to grow, even though the mod is only under beta release, its following is better than any other HL mod out there.

I personally believe that CS has many things that players have been looking for in a mod like, teamplay...you don't see players running around with rocket launchers killing everything they see, in this mod youcan't go on a fragging rampage, its very hard to aquire kills that way. You need to be skillful and know how to use the weapon that your are carrying. For example, you don't see many people buying sniper rifles and rushing the opposing side to get kills. Counterstrike is the only mod i have ever seen that REALLY involves teamplay, I've seen people wait for all their teammates to get buy good weapons and cover them while they do that before they attack the other team. its a nice feeling it makes me fell all warm inside =)

Another factor that i think makes CS so popular is the overall quality of the mod, even though the mod is in beta stages. You can see that the CS team just didn't get the idea of the mod and tried to make it as fast as they could, they put allot of work in to the code to make everything fair for everyone, weapons is a good example. You don't start off with a riffle or machine gun like ActionQuake, you have to work for it and get kills and win rounds/save hostages to get a good gun it gives everyone one a fair chance to get the weapon they want.

The CS team put a lot of work to make this mod pleasing to the eye =) they got a great mdl/skin staff that made the weapons and player models animations look great and realistic, The skins are very well done and looks great during the game.

Last but not least on of the best qualities that bring people to the mod has to be the FUN! The mod has a feel that makes it fun to play, its a combination of everything that makes the mod a great. Counterstrike will be on of the greatest mod for HL that will ever come out. I have a feeling that it will the the CTF of Half-Life, in the way that it will always be around and will always be fun.
