MANAGER OF DESKTOP SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

Description:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and testing of software support for precision farming.
- Product strategy development, pricing, budgeting, staffing, employee development, process development, project planning, and project management.
- Manage internal customers and cross-functional coordination (systems engineering) to ensure customer satisfaction.
- P&L responsibilities for software with a break-even goal and $1+ million annual expenditures.
- Manage a staff of 7-10 direct reports; software developers and test engineers.
- Regularly meet with and influence product management, platform management, and embedded software developers.
- Develop strategic relationships, analyize acquisition targets and patents, influence industry standards development, export compliance, and other aspects of international marketing and distribution.
- Individual contributor work (player/coach) as required, including writing online documentation, programming installation software, graphics arts work for product packaging, splash screens, etc.

Requirements:
- Electrical/Electronic/Software Degree, M.S.E.E or Ph.D.E.E. desired, may substitute significant work experience for advanced degrees.
- 2-3+ years experience in developing commercial, object-oriented software in C++, Java, or Delphi for 32-bit Windows (9x, NT, 2000).
- 2+ years experience in managing people, projects, and money.
- Knowledge of software process (e.g., CMM) and experience directing a team using a disciplined process.
- Proficiency with HTML, InstallShield Professional, InstallShield for Windows Installer, DemoShield, RoboHelp Office, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visual Source Safe.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in technical writing a plus.
- Knowledge of agriculture strongly desired.
- Knowledge of French, German, Spanish, and/or Brazilian Portuguese a plus.
