Pathfinder. Jungle dune buggy ride, drive through the rain forest in the Sierra Madre Mountains in your own sand buggy. You go through rivers and back roads and you will be covered by dust and mud when you are through; do not wear nice clothes! Do wear sunglasses, sun screen and bandana to cover your mouth and nose. Highly recommend by our early-twenty children. It is

Yelapa. A small town south of Misamloya that can only be reached by boat. Tour boats that also stop by Los Arcos for snorkeling leave from the Marina every day, but you can also go by water taxi. Beautiful beach, nice water fall, make sure to see the 200 year old ruins of the old town.

Los Animas hiking trail. For those of us that prefer to walk in the jungle. The trail starts on the south side of Boca Bay (Boca is the last stop on the Mismaloya bus) and continues along the ocean
for about 2 hours. An alternative to walking both ways is to take a water taxi. Beautiful scenery, relativly easy, wear good shoes.

El Tuito. A true Mexican village that has not been turned in to a tourist attraction. The town was founded in the 16th century and the population is 3500. The elevation is over 2000 ft. so bring a sweater if you go in the winter. There are many resturants that serve excellent food, but one place recomended to us is the Rancho Altamira, take a taxi (20 pesos) from town. The first 2 weeks of January there is a large celebration honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe. (Puerto
Vallarta's celebration is in the begiining of December, but many say it has turned into a show for the gringos) It is a 45 min drive (south) from Puerto Vallarta, just off highway 200. Or take the bus for 14 pesos, it leaves from V. Carranza, just east of the corner of Aguacate.
