A short flight of stairs leads from the terrace to Mismaloya beach. It has golden sand, clear blue water and gently rolling breakers, making it ideal for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling. Marina La Jolla de Mismaloya is located in the hotel on the beach, and you can rent snorkeling equipment, scuba gear, wave runners, hobie cat sailboats and kayaks. Or go on a fishing trip with any of the local fishermen. There is also parasailing available right on the beach.

Alexpa Beauty Parlor & Spa is located at the end of the resturant area on the Mismaloya Beach. Relax and enjoy a 50 min. massage for only $70 pr couple.
Down-town Puerto Vallarta
Bungee jumping is located nearby. People have good luck fishing right off the rocks on either side of the bay, so bring your own fishing equipment. The Marine National Park, Los Arcos, is located just outside Mismaloya Bay, here you can see an enormous number and variety of tropical fish, morays and turtles, and a large colony of pelicans roosts on these rocks. Humback whales migrate to the Bay of Banderas to mate and give birth and can be seen November through April. We have also seen Orcas and schools of flying fish in the bay. Sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach every year, as this is a busy beach the hotel rescues the eggs and hatch and release the baby turtles.

There are several excellent places to eat right in Mismaloya, don't miss Tony's in town; look for a 2 story thatched roofed building on the left as you walk up main street. Or have a very affordable meal and a cold Corona right on the beach at one of the many out door restaurants between the river and the far side of the beach.  There is also a Tequila factory and tasting room, across the street from the turn off to Tony's.

The condos and beach
The Mismaloya area belonged to the Indians, but the Spanish used the bay as a harbor, and in 1644 built a ship yard on the beach, where the hotel is now located. Later it was almost taken over by people building the movie set and making the movie The Night of the Iguana with Richard Burton and Ava Gardner. The movie Predator with Arnold Schwartzenegger was also filmed on the beach, as well as at a location on the Mismaloya River where the helicopter used in this movie can still be seen in the tree tops. This is now the site of a resturant, El Eden, where you can have luch, swim in the natural rocks pools and slide down the natural rock slide and swing off the rope. Ride the horse up along the river from Mismaloya and spend the day.

Isla Rio Cuale, Puerto Vallarta
Historic Puerto Vallarta is only 7.5 miles to the north. The town has a unique architectural style, cobble stone streets and and wrought iron balconies spilling over with tropical flowers. Puerto Vallarta offers great dining and nightlife and shopping, make sure to visit the open air markets downtown, on and surrounding the Isla Rio Cuale; the island in the river. There are also several world class golf courses in or around Puerto Vallarta.
