WALTER MUNSON
If any postcard artist can stake a claim to comic depictions of the plus-sized matron, it’s Walter Munson. At home with both haughty and fun-loving sexy caricatures, Munson was a superb pen-and-ink man whose work at times almost seemed too well-rendered for the “mere” comic linens he affixed his name to. He also did a fine series of WWII service cards, one of which (see the sailor card below) nicely crosses over into our subject area.
