Neighbourhood Housing Office |
Since the reorganisation of the Housing Area Neighbourhood Housing Office and you will find them at: Harris Street Between 9am and 5pm there is a freephone number for repairs: Email: camberwellarea@southwark.gov.uk The Department head is Allen MacPherson (Business Unit Manager) You should contact them to log repairs to council homes and to report neighbour and environmental problems (such as dirty streets, pavements and stairwells, dumped rubbish, dog mess, abandoned cars, graffiti, or broken lights and lifts). The neighbourhood offices can also direct you to the nearest cash office where you can pay your rent. |
One Stop Shop |
The one stop shop is a drop-in service for anyone living, working or visiting Southwark. Visit the one stop shops for friendly face-to-face advice, information, help and access to all council and community services. The one stop shops have highly trained staff who are able to deal with all general enquiries about council services, as well as council tax and housing benefit. We provide advice and information, try to help you resolve any problems you may have and put you in touch with the right service if you need additional help. Local Library | Camberwell Library
Our nearest public library is the Camberwell Library, on Camberwell Church Street. It is open everyday except Wednesday and Sunday. It has an adult library upstairs and a children's library in the basement. The adult library includes fiction, non-fiction, music, talking books, large print, reference and daily newspapers. The children's library organises events for all age groups: story telling for the under fives, arts and crafts and homework club, as well as running schemes like Reading Relay and Reading Carnival |

Culture | South London Gallery Our nearest art gallery is the South London Gallery at 65, Peckham Road, London SE5 8UH. It is open Tuesday to Friday 11am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday 2pm to 6pm, closed on Monday, admission to the exhibitions is free. As well as changing exhibitions, they have a permanent collection of works of art, which are not on public display, but can be viewed by appointment. Begun in the 1880's, the collection includes nearly 2000 works which range from those by John Ruskin and Walter Sickert to contemporary artists such as Tracey Emin and Gillian Wearing. The Horniman Museum and GardensThis wonderful museum is at 100, London Road, Forest Hill, London SE23 3PQ. It is open Monday to Saturday 10.30am to 5.30pm, Sunday 2pm to 5.30pm, admission is free. Founded by Victoria tea trader Frederick Horniman in 1901, the collection is housed in a stunning Arts and Crafts style building designed by renowned architect Charles Harrison Townsend. Within, you can explore the breadth of the Natural and Cultural World, while outside the 16 acres of beautiful Gardens stretch out to be discovered. The Imperial War MuseumThis is not a Museum of the distant past, but about people still alive today, their parents and grandparents. The wars of the twentieth century have affected each and every one of us in some way, and the Museum is here to tell all our stories. It covers all aspects of life in wartime - heroes, villains and the millions who are neither - and all human experience, at home and on the battlefield. The museum is on Lambeth Road, London SE1 6HZ. Open daily: 10.00am - 6.00pm. Admission is free England’s oldest public art gallery designed by Sir John Soane in 1811. It houses an outstanding collection of 17th- and 18th-century old master paintings, including Rembrandt, Rubens, Gainsborough, Poussin, Canaletto, Reni and Tiepolo, originally intended as a national collection for Poland. When Poland was partitioned, an alternative home was found in the ‘clean air of Dulwich.’ At the heart of the Gallery is the Mausoleum, where the founders lie to this day.
