| Monday June 25, 2001 There is something to be said for the home court advantage and taking way too long during a 2nd and 3rd set rest break. Doris Bender played her opponent well but lost 6-0 6-2. Debbie Hoffman prevailed once again and won 6-2 6-2. Diane Pierce and Martha Shannon played well also but could do little against the Orange Slices A Doubles ground strokes and lost 6-3 6-3. Lisa Cartier and Sarah Chambers almost had it. They played phenomonely (sp?) together but to no avail. They were defeated 6-3 7-5. Kim Schock and Gail Kemp had their match stolen from them. Their opponents took too long of a break after the second set and stole 4 vital minutes from the match. We definitely learned about certain rules and players attitudes with this mishap. They ended up losing in the third set 6-2 7-6 1-0. |

| Thursday, June 28 Yes Yes Yes - We did it!!! Wsy to go singles players. Robin Shepherd won #1 Singles by putting her opponent out of her misery in two sets 6-1 6-3. Lisa Cartier won #2 Singles 6-3 3-6 1-0. Way to be clutch Lisa!! #1 and #2 Doubles were not as succesful but what a battle. Diane W. and Diane P. won their first set 6-3. They lost their second set in a heartwrenching tie breaker 7-6 and then lost the third set. You guys looked awesome on the court though -- Sarah Chambers and Martha Shannon also won their first set 7-5. The second set was all mental. They lost 6-1 and the third set was tied at 4-4 when the clock ran out. They lost the tiebreaker boo-hoo!! Joyce and Elise were off the court first after they took names and kicked @#$ winning 6-4 6-3. We are now in fourth place behind Seabreezes and ahead of Sure Shots and Oranje Slices. Well Done !! |
| Saturday, July 1 OY VEY !! Our ass was grass and they were the lawnmowers. Let's just say the Seabreezes did very well on saturday and we did not. We are still, through some act of god, in fourth place. Which goes to show that our efforts throughout the season have been stellar. A Singles (Debbie Hoffman) lost 6-4 6-0 B Singles was forfeited. A Doubles (Kim Schock and Martha Shannon) lost 6-2 6-3. B Doubles (Gail Kemp and Elise Glynn) lost 6-1 6-2. C Doubles (Cynthia Tornallyay and Jill Griffin) lost 6-0 6-3. We have 3 to go let's make them our best matches yet. Thank you to all of you who played this weekend. |
