Chapter Ten |
Matt sat in the back of the hotel resteraunt, watching as people streamed through the open doors. Where is she? He glanced at his watch for what seemed like the millionth time, but only five minutes had passed. A gentle looking old woman rose from her seat, and silently took a chair next to him. "I'm sorry to bother you dear, but you seem so lonely. Where's your girlfriend at?" Matt looked at her, startled, "I'm not waiting on... I don't have a girlfriend. Not anymore." He smiled when she patted his arm apologetically. "But I am waiting for a girl. She's trying to get us back together." "Well... if you still want to be together, then why did you break up in the first place?" Matt stared off into space before slowly answering her question, "I was stupid, ma'am. I was stupid and I listened and trusted her ex boyfriend. I believed him over her, and then I broke things off. Now, I find out that he was lying, and that I just lost the best thing that happened to me." "Sounds like you're in quite a spot, dear. I sincerely hope things work out for you and the lucky lady." She rose from the table, and started to walk away when she suddenly turned around, "Oh and sonny? Remember, always tell someone how you feel about them, you will feel much better when you know that they know." He nodded, "Yeah. Thanks ma'am." He stared at her retreating figure and shrugged his shoulders. "Weird." "What did you call me?" Nikki laughed as she plopped down in the now-vacant seat. "Who was that? New flame?" "You're hilarious. No, she was just a concerned old lady. Sweet little thing. If she was fifty years younger...." Nikki gagged and pulled a tape out of her purse. "Okay, I have the proof right here, but like I said, this is not going to get the job done. If you want Mandy back, and I know you do, you have to do much more than strap her down for movie night. She might not even want to watch it. In fact, I know she won't want to watch it. Which means, in turn, that we have to get Kyle to say something identical to what's on the tape, and he has to say it while Mandy is in listening distance." "And what if we can't?" "Then you're screwed." "Lovely." ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I swear to God, if you don't let me out of here, you will regret the day you were born." Veronica banged against the door to her room one last time, and turned sullenly when she heard nothing from the hallway. She looked to the night stand, where the empty space left by the stolen phone was. Sighing she turned to the door again, "Kyle, I don't know what you think you're going to accomplish by shutting me up in here, but LET ME OUT!!" Kyle stood on the other side of the door, holding the key to the reversed lock in his palm, "In due time my dear. Now why don't you just make yourself comfortable, and I'll make a few calls with your cell phone. Thanks for lending it to me, sweetie." "When I get out of here you are so dead. You are going to know what pain is, Kyle. Do you hear me?" "Only too clearly. This is for your own good, Veronica. I don't need you snooping around like you were. That's not very nice of you Veronica. I don't like it when I see people eavesdropping on my conversations." "What the hell did you want with him anyway? You broke them up, and you know she hates you. What are you trying to prove, Kyle?" "I don't know Veronica, what do you think I'm trying to prove?" "Well, I know that if it's an egolistical asshole, then you're doing a helluva good job." "You are in no position to....." "Shut the hell up Kyle." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ JC walked down the hallway to the elevator, lost in his own thoughts, when he felt a hand reach out and pull him into a room. He whirled around and saw Nikki and Matt standing there, with hopeful looks on their faces. "What do you two want. And you..." He stared at Matt. Nikki rolled her eyes, and pressed play on the VCR, and watched JC's facial expressions as he watched it. "Oh my... has Mandy seen this?" "That's what I want to talk to you about, Jayce.... old buddy old pal of mine..." Nikki said as she started to give him a shoulder massage. "Whatever it is, Nikki.... no." he saw the look on Matt's face and felt Nikki rub his shoulders harder, and just gave in. "Fine. What do I have to do?" |
