Chapter Eleven |
(5 months later) "Oomph, JC, I need your help over here. Little bit of a pillow crisis." Nikki shifted her weight to her side, and waited impatiently. He came running to her side, "Yeah, okay." He fixed the pillow laying behind her back, and kissed her quickly on the forehead before bolting back into the kitchen, where he was fixing her a ketchup, peanut butter, and pickle sandwich. "Damn cravings," He muttered. Nikki was eight months along and fairly large. He couldn't believe that in less than a month, he was going to be a father. It was slowing sinking in that his life would never be the same, and he welcomed the change with open arms. It was a craving of his to have a family all his own, to go to the park, flip open his wallet, and share pictures of his children with complete strangers. It was a passion that consumed him more than music ever did, more than it ever would. He was happy now. Finally. Mandy, who was still hanging around, more to keep JC calm than anything, walked into the room, breaking his daze, "Throw a root beer in with all that mess." He chuckled, "Thanks for staying Mandy. I wouldn't be able to handle all this without you." "Yes you could, JC. I know you could. But really, you need to chill the hell out, Josh. You're a trainwreck. You're going to be a great daddy, trust me." "And she'll be a great mother, won't she?" he whispered, staring at Nikki, who was looking mighty uncomfortable as she tried her hardest to watch the t.v. "Mmm." Mandy murmered in agreement. "Yes, she most definately will. I've always told her she has amazing maternal instincts. She's a natural." She stifled a giggle as Nikki sighed with frustration and began talking to her stomach about pre-mature birth. "But I think she wasn't that little girl out." "Absolutely." JC picked up the tray and backed his way out the kitchen door. "Here ya go, Peach." He looked at her, put the glopping sandwich in his mouth, then turned with a blank stare to Mandy, "She's asleep." He said, chewing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "JC?!? MANDY?!?!" They came flying down the stairs, Mandy with Nikki's suitcase, and JC with a sleepy, confused look on his face. "Nikki? Its 3 am. Now?" "Weeell, I can't exactly help it. You can ground her when she gets older." They all piled in the car and JC tore his way to the hospital. They walked in, and the nurse automatically took Nikki behind the counter, leaving JC and Mandy in the waiting room. Mandy was still trying to calm JC down. "JC, if you don't shut up and act halfway human, I'll be the one in there when she delivers, and I am not gonna have your daughter calling me daddy. With you and Nikki as her parents, she's gonna be confused enough as it is." JC was about to rebutt her comment, but a nurse stepped into the room, "JC? Do you want to come in now?" Mandy gave him a strong push. "Go!" "I'm coming." He ran into the delivery room, and grabbed Nikki's hand. (8 hours later) "JC, you're sleeping on the COUCH from NOW ON!" Nikki screamed. (3 hours later) "Wow Nikki. Just... wow. She's beautiful." JC whispered, as Nikki held their new daughter. "Oh my God, I know. I'm glad she was worth all that." He laughed out loud, "You and me both. I don't actually have to sleep..." She interrupted him, "She needs a name, JC." He smiled, looking from wife to daughter. "Alexis." Nikki looked over to the vase of flowers sitting by her bed, "Alexis Amandeline." |
