Chapter Thirteen |
Chris and Dani walked into the grandly decorated reception hall with Liz in tow. "Chris?" Dani whispered so lightly to her husband that he had to lean in to hear her, "Can you believe its been fifteen years since you guys left *NSYNC?" Chris shook his head of thinning hair, and smiled warmly at his wife, "No. It seems like we were running around on stage just yesterday. Its so weird. I haven't seen Justin since Josh was born" "Mmhmm. Well, at least one thing doesn't change." She grinned from ear to ear as she looked towards the door, "Joey! Over here!" Joey stopped looking over the waitress and walked over to his old friends, hamming it up the whole way. "Hey guys, what's shaggin'?" "Party over here!!!!!!!" Britney laughed as she ran up behind her counter-part. "J, you aren't twenty anymore sweetheart." "Baby, age ain't-" "Nothin but a number." A smooth voice finished for Justin. "Sooo gang, you miss me?" Justin practically jumped on top of him as JC led Nikki into the circle of old friends. Nikki smiled tenderly as Craig Bass ran in, Lance feverently trying to keep up with him, "Hi Craiggy!!!" "Hi aunt Nikki." He turned to her with a look of pure hope, and she pointed towards the corner where Melissa was silently talking to herself, eyeing Lexi cautiously. Britney took a good look at the five men standing in front of her, and made a silent decision, "Ladies? Would you come with me to the little girl's room?" She gave them a pointed look, and they practically ran to the door, mumbling about powder and toilet paper. "I think they planned that." Joey said. "15 years." Justin muttered so only they heard. "15 years." Lance sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "We were the greatest guys. You know it, I know it, and everybody knows it." JC looked down at his feet and whispered, "It was my fault." "No, JC. Don't ever say that. Don't even think that." Chris said, putting an arm around his shoulders, "If anybody, it was Joey." "Well that's one thing that hasn't changed." Joey said, as he chuckled. "That would be because you're still so easy," Justin smirked. "But seriously C, it wasn't you. It was just obviously time to quit. It stopped being fun." Justin gave his friend one last smile of reassurance, and stared at the group as his heart grew warm. "And we're back with Gideon for MTV news." "Well, Carson, I have good news and I have bad news." "Give us the good man. its Monday." "Well, NSYNCer JC Chasez became a father early this morning. His wife, Nikki Chasez, former lead singer of MTV's resident girl group, Innosense gave birth to a 6 1/2 pound, healthy baby girl. The duo named the little tyke Alexis Amandeline." Carson smiled, "Well that's pretty damn good news. Ok, what's the bad?" "Okay, JC wants to stay with his family and the other our guys are wanting to start families. So you heard it here first gang; NSYNC is no more." The crowd gasped. Carson's eyes bulged. "Oh my. Well, Gideon, thanks man. Ok, folks, here's *NSYNC for the 64th time with "It Makes Me Ill." And we here at TRL are most certainly ill." "Justin?" Nikki asked. "Are you okay bud?" He nodded his head, "Sorry. I didn't mean to space out like that." He frowned, but walked to a seat at the nearby table to join in the party. How can I party now? |
