Chapter Eight |
(6 months later) “Nikki, I can’t believe this! Who knew you’d be getting married?!!” Jenny squealed. “Oh my God, I know!!” They hugged. The bridal room was empty. The guests were seated, and Nikki’s dad was outside the door waiting for his daughter to finish. He poked his head into the room, “Nikki? Oh my God you look so beautiful.” A tear formed in his eye. “Daddy, do not cry! You’ll make me cry!” “All right, all right. Let’s get this show on the road before I drown us all.” ~~~~~~~~ JC watched as Jenny, Danay, and Veronica, the bridesmaids, walked down the aisle. Then Mandy, the girl who had gotten the shortest straw, made her way down as the maid of honor, with Matt on her arm. The chords sounded as Nikki walked towards him. When she reached JC, she had tears in her eyes. “What’s wrong?” he whispered. “Nothing.” She smiled at him again, “Absolutely nothing.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Aah,” Nikki sighed. “My idea of a honeymoon. Peace and quiet.” “Amen,” JC said as he slid into the pool beside her.“So, what do you want to do tonight?” He wiggled his eyebrows. “Down boy!” She giggled. “Man, just a little anxious, aren’t you?” “Well, can you blame me?” “No. I know I’m irresistable, you don’t have to tell me.” He kissed her and gently picked her up, carrying her upstairs. She shrieked when she saw what he was going to do, “JC don’t you dare! We’re soaked!!” “Tough.” He threw her onto the bed and pulled the covers over them. ~~~~~~~ “Hey,” Nikki whispered as JC looked at her. “Hi. I love you.” He kissed her forehead. “I love you too.” Nikki said as she cuddled up next to him. As he fell asleep, JC knew that this was what true happiness was. |
