One area BBS that always fascinated me was Deck Six. It was
established in the early '80s and ran continuously until sometime
during 1999 when it simply stopped answering. What fascinated
me about it was that although it may have ranked as the longest
running local board in history, almost no one seemed to know
about it or called it. It ran R.B.B.S. software, and the sysop was
known only as "R.W.S." to callers. Even as a long time caller
myself, I never did find out the identity of the mystery sysop of
Deck Six. It was a haven for ham radio operators, scanner buffs,
and space enthusiasts. For the select group of callers that the
BBS was dedicated to, it served its purpose. It's a shame that it
went down without so much as a mention in the BBS community.
