HAPPY DAYS ONCE

A friend and I was walking one day
What should we see - two girls were coming our way.
One was dressed in red, the other in blue.
And both of them had beautiful eyes too.
We stopped and said "Hello", this was their reply.
"Where are you from ?" they asked with lonely eyes.
They said that they were from far - far away
And that they were leaving the very next day.
We stood there a while then we began to walk.
And as we strolled along, we soon began to talk.
We wandered around the town until we found the park.
We sat and talked of things and soon the sky was dark.
The girl in blue, she caught my eye.
Barbra was her name, I found out by and by.
We talked of love and many things besides.
And each of us talked about our own lives.
We found out a lot about each other's ways.
And just to be with her, would bring me Happy Days.
And you know that Happy Days are very hard things to find.
And yet I found them once and that eases my mind.
But as it seems that we were not meant to be
For she is far - far away from me.
And our worlds are different - different as the moon and sun.
And we could never - never be together as one.
And now Barbie Doll, if you have heard this song,
Please try to remember me, and I'll never - never be gone.
