What challenges have we had and what changes need
to be made?
Liturgy
& Worship |
Education
& Evangelization |
Mission
& Outreach |
Organization
& Administration |
Music/liturgy that is even more youth
oriented -- involve more youth in ministries. |
High school and university students need
to be included in parish life -- seek out and invite their participation. |
More 'outreach' to others in the
community -- involve parishioners in more activities of the social action
committee. |
Involvement of parishioners in parish
leadership. Council members need to actively recruit
other members for council and committees. |
Need for more Lay Presiders. Offer a week-end workshop to develop skills
and comfort level for anyone interested in being a Lay Presider. |
Ongoing education and communication:
post items on bulletin boards, improve use of
bulletin; reinstate newsletter. |
Need more parishioners, more
participation -- invite people to come to church and to become involved. |
|
|
More conferences for all parishioners --
suggested topics: social mission, evangelization, liturgy. |
Encourage participation in mission of
the wider church -- Archbishop's Appeal, missions. |
|
What do we want to see happen in our Parish
Community Within 1 - 5
years?
Liturgy
& Worship |
Education
& Evangelization |
Mission
& Outreach |
Organization
& Administration |
Involving youth in all aspect of parish
life at the elementary, high school and university levels is vital. |
Hold biannual parish conferences,
offering such topics as evangelization and social mission. Maintain stewardship campaign |
Outreach to other faiths and churches,
perhaps twin with an inner city church.
Outreach could be developing relationships and supporting the
community as well as supplying material goods. |
Maintain a stable staff and well run
parish office. Maintain a sound financial base and
manage the financial affairs prudently. |
Develop interest in the Lay Ministry
Program, with a goal of recruiting one person a year. |
Continue to educate about what we do and
why we do it. |
Establish a visitation committee. The Pastoral Team visits shut-ins and families
preparing for baptism but other families need to be welcomed as well. |
A Pastoral Council that continues to
look to the future and takes leadership to see that initiatives are
implemented. |
If you
have any questions or comments please contact me or the parish office. Council will finalize our objectives for 2003
and publish them in a January 2003 bulletin.
The next Pastoral Council meeting is
May God Bless You and Your Family.
