¨         2003 committee budgets have been submitted to Finance Council for preparing the Parish Budget

¨         The majority of the meeting Council discussed the following three questions:

What have we done well as a parish this past year?

Liturgy & Worship

Education & Evangelization

Mission & Outreach

Organization & Administration

Sacramental celebrations.

Stewardship campaign.

Coffee & donuts after Mass.

Well run parish office.

Involvement of youth: Youth Choir, Living Rosary.

Youth groups - good leaders, good programs.

Collection & distribution of clothing and household goods to the poor.

Good dialogue at Pastoral Council meetings (respect for opinions).

Liturgical workshops.

Vision Quest participation.

Meals on Wheels.

Great fundraising.

Consistent Mass times all year.

ALPHA program.

Christmas Hampers.

Finances managed well.

Community building as evidenced in the increased participation of volunteers in the Mass and programs.

Parish has been forward looking, willing to try new things; handled recent changes in the parish in a positive manner.

What challenges have we had and what changes need to be made?

Liturgy & Worship

Education & Evangelization

Mission & Outreach

Organization & Administration

Music/liturgy that is even more youth oriented -- involve more youth in ministries.

High school and university students need to be included in parish life -- seek out and invite their participation.

More 'outreach' to others in the community -- involve parishioners in more activities of the social action committee.

Involvement of parishioners in parish leadership. Council members need to actively recruit other members for council and committees.

Need for more Lay Presiders.  Offer a week-end workshop to develop skills and comfort level for anyone interested in being a Lay Presider.

Ongoing education and communication: post items on bulletin boards, improve use of bulletin; reinstate newsletter.

Need more parishioners, more participation -- invite people to come to church and  to become involved.

More conferences for all parishioners -- suggested topics: social mission, evangelization, liturgy.

Encourage participation in mission of the wider church -- Archbishop's Appeal, missions.

What do we want to see happen in our Parish Community Within 1 - 5  years?

Liturgy & Worship

Education & Evangelization

Mission & Outreach

Organization & Administration

Involving youth in all aspect of parish life at the elementary, high school and university levels is vital.

Hold biannual parish conferences, offering such topics as evangelization and social mission.

Maintain stewardship campaign

Outreach to other faiths and churches, perhaps twin with an inner city church.  Outreach could be developing relationships and supporting the community as well as supplying material goods.

Maintain a stable staff and well run parish office.

Maintain a sound financial base and manage the financial affairs prudently.

Develop interest in the Lay Ministry Program, with a goal of recruiting one person a year.

Continue to educate about what we do and why we do it.

Establish a visitation committee.  The Pastoral Team visits shut-ins and families preparing for baptism but other families need to be welcomed as well.

A Pastoral Council that continues to look to the future and takes leadership to see that initiatives are implemented.

If you have any questions or comments please contact me or the parish office.  Council will finalize our objectives for 2003 and publish them in a January 2003 bulletin.  The next Pastoral Council meeting is December 10, 2002.

May God Bless You and Your Family.
