Clarence was born in Portland, OR and died in Benton, Corvallis
County, OR (Death Cert 74-01674). An entry on the funeral home
card indicated that he may have served in the Spanish-American
War of 1898. It is believed that his family was living in New
York City at that time.
The 1930 census states that Clarence was age 16 at the time of the his first marriage and Rosa as age 16. Was this Clarence's second marriage? Rosa died in Portland County, OR (Death Certificate #2812). No children of the marriage have been found.
A newspaper article (cir 1939)
has a picture of Clarence, a laborer, and states that he confessed
to shooting a lady friend, Mildred Zink, in 1939. She evidently
was married and encouraged him by promissing to divorce her
husband and to marry Clarence. Whether he served time for the
shooting is not known at this time.
Any information about the members of this family would
be appreciated.
