Paul was drafted for service in World War I, a fact noted by the Almogorda Newspaper although the family had already returned to Virginia. Paul evidently
went to France on the same ship "Mongolia" as Henry C. Winsett. Paul was promoted to corporal while in the National Army.
Paul operated the store at the corner of SR821 and 89.
He lived in the white house next door. His son, Davis,
moved next door after marrying.
