Nothing is known about William and Laura's life together and whether there were children.

William died in a mining accident crushed by falling rocks. He is buried in Whitetop Cemetery near Austinville.

Francis was called Fannie. She was from Roanoke. The family was in McDowell County, West Virginia for the 1930 Federal Census. She married William Hanks after William's death. He was nice to William's children who remember Mr. Hanks with affection.
