The Cmd Key
The Cmd key is a very powerful part of the MSN TV system. It can control everything from watching TV, to starting a MSN Messenger conversation. If you want to compare the Cmd key to a key found on a computer, this would be the Ctrl key. Address Book / Buddy List
In the Address Book you can store all the e-mail addresses of people that you e-mail often. To open the Address Book, go to Mail and on the left side of the screen click Addresses. Once it has finished loading you can then add an entry to it. To do this, choose Add on the left hand side of your screen. The rest is pretty self explanitory. When it asks you if you want this person to be able to contact you in MSN Messenger, you can say yes or no. (keep in mind only people with email addresses ending in msn.com, hotmail.com, or webtv.net can use MSN Messenger) If you check the box next to allow this person to contact you, another box will open asking you if you want this person to be on your MSN Messenger buddy list. Check this box if you want to know when this person is online.
If you want to edit an existing entry, go to the Address Book the same way as described above, only this time search for the entry you want to edit. Once you find their name click the "Change" link next to it. This will bring you to a screen where you can either enter a new e-mail address for that name, or change the name and leave the e-mail address as is. In certain cases MSN TV will not allow you to change the name because there are a few bugs in the system. There's also a link on this page that says Messenger Settings, you can click this link to either add them, or take them off of your buddy list.
If you ever have a person talking to you in MSN Messenger, that you do not want to talk to, simply removing them from your buddy list will not help. You will need to block them, and this can be done easily by going to the home page, and clicking Messenger. Once this page opens click the Settings link in the upper right hand corner and then choose see who can contact you. You will see a list of everyone on your buddy list with a "Block" button next to their name. Find the person's name you would like to block and click this button. They now can nolonger contact you through Messenger.
