The Pooh Dictionary

Feeling a little lost when it comes to understanding Pooh? Well, you're in the right place. Here are some definitions of terms which might help you familiarize yourself with Pooh's world if you aren't an avid Pooh fan already.

  • Hundred Acre (Aker) Woods - The forest where Pooh and his friends live.

  • Hunny - Pooh's favorite food (Commonly known as "honey.")

  • Heffalumps - Honey hungry animals that look similar to an elephant.

  • Winnie the Pooh - A bear of very little brain who loves hums and eating honey.

  • Tigger - A tiger-like animal who loves to bounce (especially unto his friends) and hates baths.

  • Piglet - A tiny, timid pig whose best friend is Winnie the Pooh.

  • Eeyore - A gloomy donkey whose tail keeps falling off and whose house keeps falling down.

  • Christopher Robin - The young boy who loves to adventure with Winnie the Pooh and friends. Based on A. A. Milne's own son, Christopher Robin Milne.

  • Kanga - the mother figure; Roo's mom

  • Roo - Kanga's young offspring who is good friends with Tigger.

  • Rabbit - loves gardening and has a large number of Friends and Relations

  • Owl - a very wise owl

  • Small - His name is short for Very Small Beetle. One of Rabbit's many friends and relations.

  • Alexander Beetle - another of Rabbit's insubstantial friends or relations.

  • Woozles - Another of the 'monsters' of the Hundred Acre Wood. Kind of like Heffalumps

  • Jagulars - see Woozles

  • Edward Bear - better known as Winnie the Pooh

  • Expotition - Pooh's spelling of "Expedition"

  • A.A. Milne - the author of Winnie the Pooh and other books

  • Ernest H. Shepard - the illustrator

  • Classic Pooh - the Shepard style Pooh (usually without the red shirt)

  • Disney Pooh - the Disney style Pooh (usually with the red shirt)

  • The World of Pooh - Made up of the books "Winnie-the-Pooh" and "The House at Pooh Corner"

  • The World of Christopher Robin - Made up of the books "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six"
