Magic
Items A plethora of magical items, many made specifically
for the Asian campaign. A sample: Nebuta
of Good Fortune (giant paper lanterns granting luck to whole
communities), Fuku-mamé
(magical beans that banish outsiders, inspired by Japan's Setsubun
holiday), Kotsu-bako
of New Life (box for cremation remains that animates a very
robust skeleton).
Martial
Arts Budouka in the island nation of Kokubura.
New
Spells Snake arms, safe journey, bolts of
air, thieving saru, and sun dog... a compilation of these and other original
spells for an Asian or Occidental campaign.
 Prestige
classes
Creation of these
prestige classes was greatly aided by the Class Construction Engine by Shadowcraft
Studios (whose link is defunct).
Spirit at the expense of bodily vigor, understanding at the price of owning
material goods: these are the trade-offs made by the ascetic, who renounces
all worldly things and strengthens his body with but his mind.
Bamboo
Warrior Spirit folk devoted to the
defense of the sasa grove to which their clan's life-force is tied,
this noble warrior provides every reason against interfering with the bamboo
spirit folk's affairs.
Chaer'
Run Elite Warrior Known among the other tribes for a training
regime in which they pound themselves with hammers, these korobokuru are
immune to injury, pain, stunning, fear, the elements, and maybe even death
and thinking.
Disciple
of the Griffon Claw Elven or half-elven monks initiated into
the order after slaying their namesake with their bare hands, the Disciples
are rumored not to have mere fists but talons, so deadly are their strikes
in combat. By Vladimir of the Wizards.Com
Boards, with exclusive artwork by Vekthor.
Eagle
Spirit Warrior
Oft at odds with the tribal shaman, eagle spirit warriors nevertheless
embody a mystical spiritualism themselves, enabling them to take the form of
a swift and deadly raptor.
Foe
Hunter
So deadly are foe hunters to their favored enemies that their enemies
must surely have foe hunters as favored enemies... got that?
Hidden Beast
A
sudden growl made him spin - in the place where the wizard had fallen stood an awesome beast, eyes red and
glowing... A prestige class for alchemists.
Inj a
("Hermit") Mystic
vagabonds able to unlock the powers of the arcane and divine, an inja
is never one to be surprised. A prestige class for the wandering
spellcaster or psionic.
Jaguar
Warrior Fleet of foot and brave in being, the jaguar warrior
may stalk his prey unseen, pounce in a devastating attack, and stride away
in the form of a great cat.
Makuran
Fire Walker Known even in foreign lands for treading across glowing
coals without injury, Fire Walkers express devotion to the power of volcanic
Mt. Kura, and are able to summon its hellish fires.
Metabolist
Capable of extreme feats of physical brawn, the metabolist manifests
strength not only as a physical attribute but also a mental one.
Mukei
("Incorporeal")
Mod smirked. This piece of work was going to pay with her life. His blade
swung, sliced through - nothing... A mukei is a warrior so dedicated to one weapon she
instills her soul into it.
Origami
Master (Origami no Tensai) The samurai's haughty paper
oni was clearly better than the simple imitation she had folded --
yet it was the legend of her victory in the competition that lasted.
Quarreler
The archers laughed. A crossbow-wielder in an archery contest?!
And they were right -- she failed to hit the bulls eye. Instead, she
simply took out every arrow headed toward it.
Shinkage
(New Shadow)
Ninja of Shou Ken Cloisters trained not only in body but mind, the shinkage
embody their sect's philosophy in blinding flashes of movement and speed.
Shinsei
(The Divine) Holy warrior of Shou Ken Cloisters, the shinsei
are terrifying not only in flesh, but also in mind.
Sumotori
Embellished with flesh and muscle able to push mountains, will that bends only when his
body breaks, and the furry of "48 hands," the practitioners of
sumo have a might bespoken of even in legend. By drakin769 of the
Wizards message boards.
Wild
Blade Ronin (Mikai no Ronin) The assailant sat up,
shaking from his head the knockout Ryochiro had just given him. He ordered
the man a bowl of soup. They ate in silence... A prestige class
for the masterless, uncivilized warrior who carves a place for himself in a
society obsessed with decorum and station.
I could not wait
for 3rd edition OA to come out, and so did a lot of conversion work for my
own homebrew Asian campaign. Will
Ehgoetz
also contributed extensively in churning out 3e versions of monsters.
Legalities:
Ukiyo-e (wood-block prints) by Utagawa
Kuniyoshi and his "school" were produced from 1810 to 1910.
Conversions are from the Oriental
Adventures (1985) source book by Gary Gygax. Conversions from earlier
versions to 3rd edition D&D are permitted by Wizards
