Day 4: Monday 5th August: The day of the first sail and also the first mooring. Woke up and had breakfast, todays was better than yesterdays. Today I'm bosuns dayworker, means no normal watches for me! But at our morning briefing we're told that our Captain, Pat has to leave due to family problems, so what we have to do is sail out at 13:45 for the final parade of sail, then we'll have to turn around and come back so that the Captains can swap over. As a dayworker it'll be up to me to put out fenders etc when we moor. So we set off. We put up one of the fore sails, the mizzen and the topsail, to set this sail some of the crew had to climb the rigging, right out along the top yard, It looks like a right laugh. I decide that I'll have to get up there! My chance comes sooner than expected. While satnding on deck the Bosun comes past and asks for volunteers to take in the topsail and secure it to the Yard. I volunteer without hesitation. I leave first to go up the port side, this means that I'll be be first onto the Yard and therefore right out over the Sea. The view down is amazing, the water rushing under the bow of the boat WOW. Heading back to the Berth now, an extremely good mooring, we just slide in against the side. Everybodies just chilling when at about 20:00 we play interwatch tug of war, Main watch comes in a respectable second. Given more shore leave but only untill 22:30 as the new captain may join us tonight and want to leave straight away.
