Day 9: August 12th: The day of the galley rat and the second port. Woke up for breakfast. briefing at 09:00hrs. Told we'll be in Fredrickhavin at about 17:00 hrs, but before that there may be a chance to anchor and go for a swim. Loads of peolpe are up for that. The Swimming Team Happy hour arrives: in the heads again, this time cleaning the showers so it's not quite as bad but still not nice at all. take over as galley rat at 10:00hrs, just in time for smoko. give it out, clean it up finish just in time for a 30min break before we start again for lunch. Then work hard until 14:15 when we all rest again for a short while. As second smoko is served we stop, and guess what, it's time for a swim. We launch both the rib and the lifeboat, the lifeboat is at anchor so we can swim to it. I'm first in off the stern, but they're letting us swing out on one of the yard ropes. I have a few goes, it's tremendous fun. Tarzan Returns The Lifeboat does have a use The Captain Will go for a swim The Aftermath, none too pleasant! It Gets Worse After that we raise anchor and head straight into Fredrickhavn as we berth there's an almighty "BOOM" and guess what? We've arrived on the night when the town is celebrating a famous sea battle, we're told there'll be music beer and guns, soldiers and ships with loads of cannons and musket fire etc... Soldiers More Soldiers But before anybody gets shore leave the whole of the galley must be cleaned to the chefs satisfaction. We do it extremely qucikly and changed and away by 20:00hrs. We have a good look round but everything's in Danish so we can't understand anything. But we do buy a wooden sword which will become more important later on in this story. What a Night
