Argentina - October 1997
Going over the Andes from Santiago into Mendoza, Argentina, was a very nice trip.. this part of the Andes reminded me very much of the Rocky Mountains in the USA.. it had so many similarities, complete with the same variety of cactus I'd find in Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas.. it had very much the same feel.. then as the bus went to the peak of the Andes, we were surrounded by snow, which very much reminded of other Rocky Mountain trips such as in Montana and such.. so many similarities.. eventually we got over the Andes, it didn't take long.. its a fairly narrow strip in Chile and then its all Argentina which is borders with the Andes, but fairly void of them for the most part.
The first stop in Argentina was Mendoza. A nice little town. Unfortunately, I didn't stay long. I did meet one very pretty girl in the bus terminal, but for the most part, I didn't even have money to linger around here for a couple days, and found it best if I moved on quickly towards my destination of Sao Paulo so I could start teaching English.
