Serge "Merlin" Cyr
Rock Machine/Bandidos
Serge Cyr was born in the late 1950s and joined the Rock Machine in either  the  late 1980s or early 1990s. Known  as "Merlin," Cyr has  been described as being intelligent and crafty.

Cyr was arrested on May 19, 1997 and charged with conspiring with 13 others the murder of  Hells Angels boss  Maurice "Mom" Boucher. In 1994, a  stolen  van  loaded with  explosives was  discovered outside the
Cri-Cri restaurant  on  Ste-Catherine  street, an  establishment  Boucher often  ate  at. Cyr was  released  soon  after, with  the  condition that he would report to police once a week.

The crack down came following information provided by informants Harold Pelletier, Normand "Bouboule" Tremblay and Denis Bouthilette.

Serge Cyr was  among  the 65 people  that  attended  the  September 15, 1998 funeral of  respected Rock Machine Johnny Plescio. Plescio, a founding member of the group, was shot to death in his Laval home earlier that month.

By the late 1990s, Cyr had stepped up to become  a  leader of  the  Rock  Machine. When  the  club became an official Bandidos chapter on December 1, 2001, he continued that role in the same capacity. Some newspaper  articles described Cyr as the "head of the Bandidos' Montreal operations."

On February 15, 2001, police  arrested  Hells Angels  Denis "Pas Fiable" Houle, Normand Robitaille, Gilles "Trooper" Mathieu, Richard "Dick" Mayrand, Michel Rose,
prospects Jean-Richard Lariviere and Luc Bordeleau, and  Rocker  Kenny Bédard  at  the  Holiday Inn on Sherbrooke  street. Photographs of several  Rock  Machine/Bandidos  members, including one of  Cyr, were found  on them. According to authorities, the Hells Angels had gathered to plan the murders of several of their rivals.

Cyr, fellow Bandido Robert Paradis, and two others, lounged around at the
Chez Parée strip club on Stanley  street  late  May 17, 2001. Cyr  and  Paradis were  reportedly wearing their  Bandidos colors, a detail that did  not go unnoticed to  a group of  large  men who entered the establishment. According to witnesses, the group attacked the Bandidos from behind. A fight ensued. Cyr was driven to the hospital for treatment and, true to the code of the streets, refused to talk to police.
