A lot of people have been asking about installing exhaust on their 5th gens. I decided to post pictures of my hassles for you. I purchased this exhaust system in 2000 for roughly $175 from Pacesetter, even though it is really Monza. When I first had it all hooked up, the tips didn't extend past the bumper so they were rubbing the paint off it. When I'd hit bumps in the road, it would make gauges in the inside of the bumper. Not only that, but they were tipped to the right, it wasn't really bad, but still pretty noticeable. I twisted all the pipes as far as they would, but it still wasn't straight. ![]() I decided to cut the pipes and make it straight. I had to use a hacksaw to cut through it. I think its best
to cut the pipes that are on the muffler section, that way you can twist it all you want. I cut it right behind the muffler,
before it bends. I brought the small cut section of pipe to some mechanics places to see if they hey had any sleeves that would
fit over it. Eventually, a Meineke had one. They didn't charge me for it cause it was scrap. I put the sleeve over the 2 cut
sections and clamped it down with 2 pipe clamps. You can see the how big the gap is if you look closely at the silver section.
There is a 2 to 3 inch difference from where it used to be. Rust after just one year of Connecticut weather
