You ask what I think about Mormons? Well, they do have nice music, but their theology is heresy! Their president wields more power over his members than the Roman Pope ever dreamed of.
When I was first a probation officer in the back country of British Columbia, I had to deal with members from a Mormon Sect called "The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ's Latter Day Saints".
They still practised polygamy. I became involved as Probation Officer because of all the incest! Small wonder, I visited one home where Papa had five wives (the oldest was 53, youngest was 15) and 56 kids. There really weren't enough mattresses to go around! The guy was so proud of his lifestyle, he allowed National TV to interview him and his family. He drove a school bus for a living, but the farm and garden took care of all the family's other needs.
The RCMP laid a polygamy charge against him, but the Prosecutors hummed and hawed for over a year and finally decided not to approve the charge because it might be contrary to Canada's Charter of Rights which allows freedom of association! Even the Mainline Mormons still believe in "celestial marriage" but a bishop told me they didn't practise it because it was against the law of the land. Well, it appears the Canadian law, at least, is powerless to stop it.
The Fundamentalist Mormons would legally marry the first wife, and any others they got as favors from their bishop could collect welfare! They have three colonies: Creston, British Columbia, Salt Lake City, Utah and Scottsdale, Arizona. They have become inbred since they went underground almost 80 years ago, so they all look the same. All the American pregnant women sneak across the US border to have their babies in the Canadian Hospital, where our Universal Medical care pays the cost of delivery. I was on the Hospital board, and when they tried to bill the government for delivery charges, we discovered that some women were having ten babies a year!!!
Real good scam: good for the men, but the poor women were all as fat as cows by the time they were in their mid 20's. Many women had over ten babies before their bodies gave up.
