Visualisation The importance of meditation has been stated in the previous link, however visualisation is equally important. Some people like to skip to process of practising these two techniques everyday. However this is a disadvantage to yourself! Just think of how much Wiccans and Witches use their visualisation skills in their practices. There are used for casting circle, rituals, spells any many other practices. Without developing strength in these skills it would be hard to become proficient at the practice of witchcraft. As with meditation it is a good idea to do small amounts of visualisation everyday. Before starting a visualisation make sure you are relaxed and focused, try the deep breathing detailed in the meditation section. Some people can see visualisations more vividly than others. Some can see and sense the images in their heads, while others can see them as a 3-D movie playing behind their eyelids. Not being able to see a full 3-D movie doesn’t mean you are not visualising, though a more vivid image may come with practice. Practice in visualisation doesn’t need to be any longer than 10 minutes per day. It is much better to be a few minutes everyday than an hours worth every fortnight. Start by visualising easy things like 2-D shapes. You can then try changing the colour of the shape and the colour of the background. Then you can make these images 3-D and see them from above, below, all sides and from inside. After you have mastered shapes try things like fruit, and imagine their taste and texture as well as their look. Be warned that if you are good at visualisations trying to think of the taste of a lemon might make your mouth water from the sourness! Visualisations can also be guided or free form stories, or journeys. Below is a visualisation/ meditation that should leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Visualisation
