Wicca or Witchcraft?

Many people seem to forget that there is a difference between Wicca and Witchcraft. Please do not forget, it is important! Some authors use the word interchangeably, this practise is becoming so common that people don't even know there is a difference.

Witchcraft is an old practice. No claim is going to be made here except that witchcraft in some form has been practised for centuries.

Wicca has not even be practised for one century yet! Wicca is only about 60 years old and was born from the works of Gerald Gardner. If you do not know Gerald Gardner's work and what exactly he believed then don't call yourself Wicca. You do not have to agree with EVERYTHING he wrote but you should know it and understand it.

As Witchcraft as an old practice and Wicca is a new religion there is no need for Wiccans to say "never again the burning times". True the execution of people accused of Witchcraft was horrible, but no Wiccans were burned as Wicca did not exist then.

Whenever you read anything about Witchcraft and Wicca please remember there is a difference.
