ESSENTIAL OILS CARRIER OILS: Used to dilute essential oils, making them useful for massage and moisturising the skin GRAPESEED: A light odourless oil suitable for all skin types. ALMOND: A more delicate moisturising oil ~ especially suitable for the face. JOJOBA: A very rich waxy oil, rich in anti-oxidants whaich in turn is good for the skin and also prolongs the shelf-life of oil blends. It is best for the jojoba to be further diluted: approximately 10% of the base oil ~ the remaining 90% used such as almond or vegetable oil (as stated above) ~ this enriches the blend. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ THE BLEND: A blend off essential oils and a carrier oil (above) which is used to massage into the skin ~ face or body. Use 5 drops of essential oil per 10 ml (1 dessertspoon) of carrier oil (grapeseed, etc). For facial oils, mixes used on children or small babies ~ use only one drop. When choosing the essential oil, careful consideration should be made for the strength of the oil, therapeutic properties, and the required fragrance. Using a lot of flowery or strong oils would not be a good combination ~ combine the heavier-fragrances with citrus oils, or those with a lighter fragrance. Blending oils is an art ~ to be learned through trial and error, and with personal preference for combinations. Vegetable oil may also be used for blends ~ used in the bath or for inhalation. you can also try blending oils and carriers with lotions and creams, or gels, to make your own fragrances and blends ~ follow the basic guidelines. |
