Hi, there!
I'm a certified herbalist and witch,
new to this club... merry meet to everyone!
As for comfrey, the hoopla surrounding this herb
is mainly based on studies of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs),
which are only one of the many components of comfrey.
These alkaloids, when given in isolation
to lab rats, can cause liver problems.
Comfrey, however, is made up of many more
components which buffer the effects of the PAs,
so it is entirely safe for internal use,
despite what the FDA would like us to believe.

To be on the safe side, comfrey ROOT should be used
internally only for a few months at a time,
which is how most people use it anyway.
From a local group.
Hope this clears up the confusion!
