WitchWorksWritten for teens, WITCHWORKS spans two years and thirteen locales, with more to come. Fraught with danger and demons galore, it's sure to thrill young girls, especially the romantic triangle. My own readers enjoyed the surprise twist in the latest book, which was really a surprise ending, but the series continues even now.
A short summary of the action:
Clover and Rome: Located in Pennsylvania, Clover is the only fictional site in the entire book, with the exception of Woodsley Air Force Base, which is really a renamed military spot near Harrisburg. Their hometown of Clover is where Judy Lee first meets Port and becomes acquainted with Justine, resident witch and trouble-maker. She has turned Port's father into a vampire, and they must deal with him, along with trying to find the first clue.
They are led to the catacombs of Rome, where they need to find yet another clue. They meet the mysterious Garce Regency, and David Andralio, a man on Justine's payroll.
Maine and Arizona: New England is their next stop, where a serial killer is on the loose and believed to be using a haunted house as a hideout. In September, Judy Lee goes back to college, and a new clue leads her to Arizona. A dangerous September for all involved.
Connecticut and Clover: Thanksgiving in Stoney Creek, with a hired killer and the ghost of Jack the Ripper, courtesy of the witch. The haunted lighthouse is fun, then it's home for the Christmas holidays, although they are anything but merry, as Justine has resurrected her vampire, and also introduced a new demon, a werewolf, as an added attraction.
Ontario and Mexico: They are led to Skeleton Lake for some bitter cold and danger in the snow, as they track the werewolf and try to stay out of the way of an errant Sasquatch. They get one up on the witch, thanks to Chad. She then leads them from bitter cold to sweltering heat, taking a six-month respite before they go to Mexico. They have to find Port's experimental space capsule, which Justine has wrecked into the dense Yucatan jungles.
California and Egypt: In sunny California, the Black Death; the plague and the Big One hit Los Angeles. Sean's long-hidden secret is finally revealed. Then, Judy Lee gets a chance to apprentice on an archaeological dig for the lost tomb of Nefentani, Ramses II's favorite daughter. Enter Eric St.Charles, eminent archaeologist and male chauvinist pig.
England and Harrisburg: While waiting for Nefentani's treasures to arrive in the States for display, Judy Lee and Port travel to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to check out the castle Port has just inherited from the last remaining Rancon in England. Justine pulls one of her most diabolical tricks. Back home, Eric St.Charles arrives with the Egyptian treasures, followed closely by the Black Market, who wants a share.
Space and Antarctica: Port gets a shuttle mission; Judy Lee gets distraught; Chad gets taken for a ride. Then it's down to the icy bottom of the world for the final battle, or so they think. It has been her intention all along to leave them stranded there. They don't know that she isn't really destroyed, just waiting for them, as the series goes on.
