I found myself almost healed from my cold today, and I find that God's timing is always perfect, even if we don't see it. I have ofetn seen God's mercy too, in that my healing comes just in time for a roadtrip and seeing some long lost friends.
Today was a rather random day for me. I spent the first part of my day sleeping off what appeared to be the last of my cold, and healing up. The second part of my day consisted of getting up and around, getting out of the house to head to campus to try to make it to class. Upon not being able to make it on time or get a parking spot, I headed to my friend's dorm room. After making it to his room, we discussed things, and he ended up deciding to come with me. By coming with me I mean on my trip to Rock Hill, South Carolina, to see some friends and then take them to Charlotte, North Carolina to see a show, of which my ticket was bought as a birthday present.
We hit the road, and as we left we were already late. I am falling back in to thinking of things as working in God's time as opposed to how I think they have to work, in time. I had gotten to the point where I was thinking everything works as we see it, time-scale included. I had almost lost sight of the fact that if God wants something to happen, it can defy what we see as logical. I say this because my friend and I made it to Rock Hill in an hour's drive, which should've easily been over an hour and thirty minutes.
After picking up my friends, we made the drive to Rock Hill. We had a blast, saw a good show, and then headed back to Rock Hill. There, my good friend showed us around the campus of his college, and we had a great time doing that. From there, my friend and I had to make it back to Columbia, so I could stress out about studying for an exam. We made it back to Columbia in what seemed like no time at all, and I rushed to meet another friend at roughly 2am to study for an exam.
After studying for and hour and a half with my friend, we decided to throw in the towel for the evening and pick it back up in the morning to study some more. After praying like normal, with an extra one praying for some help on the exam the next day, I crashed like an airplane out of fuel.
This all comes back to God's timing for us. A day earlier, I would never have been able to accomplish all of that in a day, being sick. God healed my body and spirit just in time for me to be able to do what needed to be accomplished. It's just so humbling to see how God can act, in both amazingly large miracles, and in subtle things that we take for granted, such as our health.
Recently, this has been on my mind alot, something that seems obvious and has been stated here before, but still gets me every time I think about it:
How often do we take the time to think about the fact that God died for us? On that cross, it wasn't just a man, it was also God on that cross that died so that we didn't have to suffer the same fate for eternity, and how often do we think about that?
