Still 'eavy Still proud!

 Crazy fans!!

The Dusseldorf venue Tor 3 was located at a industrial area somewhere in Dusseldorf…don’t ask me where exactly because we were lost ….and found by a nice girl at the Suisse hotel who helped us out......

We arrived at 4.30 at the entrance. Jan Martin Monster, his wife Thea, Erik van Loenhout and me  meet up with Brian and Lorraine Jones. We had learn to know eachother from the last Holland and Belgium tour.

We waited until the band arrived about 5 o’clock. We had a quick hello and shaked hands. We followed the band  into the venue to attend the soundcheck. But no way, we where forced to get out by a securityguy.

To bad. But before we went out we heard a tape of Heep with Bernie singing Sweet Freedom. Charlie the engineer told us the song would probably end up on the live CD.

No soundscheck? OK lets go for a beer, chips, 23 nuggets and a chat at a Holland snackhouse….

In the meantime we  teamed up with Dirk & Monique, Willy, Sandra and Rinus. All diehard Heepfollowers .They 'chased' the band already a few days and would stay for more then 10 days on this tour. They told us the tour was doing well, most of the venues where packed.

We were back at 7. Right in time to buy a ticket. The security was a serious matter. No camera was allowed, No pictures on the web on this one??  Well Rinus and Willy had all area passes and your webmaster had not, so they could bring in their camera. Willy was so friendly to let me make the pictures and take the film home with me. Many thanks to them.

Mick "The man in black" and his intro to Heartless land

A few days later .......Richard Wagner ( Take notice of his Cleveland 1998 Heepvention T-shirt ) meets Mick Box. Is that our www.uriah-heep.com 2000 logo?? YES!!!

Thanks  Rich!!

There was a stand with T-shirts and caps…and yes T-shirts and Caps with our  own www.uriah-heep.com logo on it. It makes a webmaster feel proud.

Anyone who sold was thanked by me on behalf of al the Heepsters on the web!

At 8 the support band SHAKRA started their show. I must say..not bad at all..Suiss rock by nice young looking guys.J)

Thereafter... up to the frontrow!  Heep started their show at 9.30….Between two worlds….here we are again Heep live! A great feeling..I can tell you. The setlist was the same as the Hollandtour. There's not to much to say to it more then I did on the Holland 99 shows. Ofcourse the old songs were very well received by the packed venue. Gypsy was very well done..Lee Kerslake was in a outstanding condition. After his drumsolo Mick and Trevor applauded for him. Bird of Prey and Look at yourself both are exellent live songs.

Shelter from the rain  got a low responce. Not Love of silence…..the crowd loved this one.

And in the end the always appearing Lady in black.

We would have heard one or two new songs…but……WE HAD JUST HEARD A GREAT SHOW!

Louis Rentrop
