This fic connects with a song from the movie Josie and the girl thingycats. The song is called 3 Small Words:
It took 6 whole hours
And 5 long days
For all your lives to come undone
Those 3 small words
Were way too late
Can't you see that I'm the one?
Ginny sighed a deep sigh and stared at Harry. It was 5 days and 6 hours exactly after the winter ball, and Harry had gone with Hermione Granger. Ginny was feeling quite terrible. She had had a crush on Harry for 4 years now, but did he ever notice? No, all he noticed was Hermione. Ginny cupped her chin in her hand, and watched them joke playfully around. She had nothing against Hermione, but, why o why, did she have to steal the one person Ginny loved more than anything? She felt like smacking herself. It was obvious. Ginny hadn't told a sole about her secret crush. Ginny heard a sigh, but this time it wasn't her own. It was her brother Ron's, who was sitting next to her. He was looking enviously at Harry and Hermione. Ginny knew he had a crush on Hermione. He was still really mad at Harry for asking her before he had a chance, even though Harry knew. Harry then looked up and stared between Ginny and Ron. "You 2 look like you just found out you were being murdered. What's up?" he asked seriously. "I've gotta go to the common room." muttered Ron, standing up and leaving. Harry looked at Ginny. "Well?" he demanded. "Nothing. I just did bad on a test in potions." Ginny lied. "No need to worry, Gin, we all do bad. You probably did excellent, Snape just marked you down." said Harry reasuringly. "Sure." said Ginny quietly. Hermione looked concerned though. "But Ginny..." she started. "No one had a test in potions today." Harry looked from Hermione to Ginny, confused. "Yes, we did." said Ginny. "Ginny, you didn't, and we both know it." said Hermione matter-o-factly. "Hermione, you don't know!" yelled Ginny, drawing attention to them. "Just stay out of my life, will you?" With that, Ginny marched off towards the common room.
It was late at night, and Ginny sat on a chair by the fire, silent tears streaming down her cheeks. She stared into the warm blazes, her hands around her knees. Just as she thought about going to bed, she heard footsteps. "Er, Ginny? You down here?" It was Harry. Ginny's heart sank. Why did she have to have acted so stupid earlier today? "Gin?" his voice came again, soft and soothing, but not full of confidence as usual. It sounded more tentative. "I'm here, Harry." Ginny almost whispered, staring at the floor. She heard Harry sit down beside her. She sneaked a glance upwords. Harry's wishful eyes were upon her, full of concern. "Gin, about today..." Harry started. "I'm sorry!" burst out Ginny. "I was just jealous." Harry eyed her cautiously. "Jealous about what?" he asked, trying to make eye contact. Finally, Ginny looked into his great, green eyes. "Well, Harry, the truth is, I've had a crush on you for 4 years." Ginny felt her face redden, and then looked down at the floor again. "Oh." said Harry, obviously surprised. "Well, Ginny, I guess I've liked you too." he said after a couple minutes. Ginny looked up, quite startled. "You've grown into a beautiful young woman." Harry was right. Ginny had a slim waist, beautiful red hair that went down to her shoulders and curled at the end. She had sky blue eye, a fair complextion, and her face was dotted with freckles. "But not just your body." said Harry quickly. "Your mind and characteristics. Ginny, I, I," Harry paused for a minute. "Ginny, I love you." Their eyes met, and for a slipt second Ginny thought she was dreaming, until she knocked over the pile of books on the table and bruised her elbow. "But, but it's too late Harry. You already have a girlfriend." Ginny turned away from Harry. "Oh, Gin, the only reason I asked her was because I thought you were going with Neville." said Harry truthfully. "Really?" asked Ginny, stunned. "But, why are you always flirting with Hermione?" Ginny demanded. "Just because, well, I dunno Gin, but it's you I love."
This comes from the song Complicated by Avril Lavinge:
You become Somebody else
Round everyone else
Your watching your back
Like you can't relax
Trying to be cool
You look like a fool
To me
Why did you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way your
Acting like your somebody else
Gets me frustrated
When lifes like this you
You fall and you crawl and you brake and you take
What you get
And you turn it into
Honesty and Promise your never gonna find your fake is
No, no, no
Ginny was very happy that next morning. She woke up with a smile on her face, even though she had Double Potions that day. Even Snape couldn't ruin her day. She didn't keep to her quiet, shy self. Ginny said good morning to everyone, including Malfoy, who looked very surprised and couldn't think of something rude to say. Ginny walked over to the Gryffindor table and gave Harry a quick hug. He blushed and smiled back before hurridly taking a bite of his bacon. Ginny was mildly surprised that he didn't hug her back, considering she was his girlfriend, but Ginny guessed he was still overwhelmed about his confession last night. Ginny took a drink of pumpkin juice and didn't think anymore of it. For a while.
It had been a week since Ginny and Harry were going out, but it seemed that Harry had thought of Ginny as a stranger. They would walk down the hall together, but never hand in hand. Every time Ginny tried to hug or kiss Harry good-bye or hello, he would always say he had to go to the library right away, and rush off. Ginny thought it was strange, so she decided to talk to Ron. "Don't worry, Gin. I'm sure he's just busy." said Ron through a mouthful of lamb chops. "To busy to even give me a quick hug?" Ginny asked, folding her arms. "Look Gin, he's just a bit shy and untrustworthy. You would be too if You-Know-You has tried to kill you 5 different times." Ginny just glared at Ron. She saw Harry walking in the Great Hall. "Lo, Harry." said Ron. "Hi Ron. Oh, um, hey Ginny." said Harry, sitting next to Seamus. "Hi." replied Ginny coldly. She started eating her mashed potatoes extremely fast and then stood up. "Where you going in such a rush?" asked Ron with a surprised look on his face. "Library." said Ginny, glancing over at Harry, who seemed to have no idea why she was mad at him. With a flip of her hair, Ginny left the Great Hall.
On her way to the library, Ginny bumped into Hermione. "Hi, Ginny!" she said brightly. "I'm having an excellent day, what about you?" she asked, smiling. "I'm glad someone's having a good day." muttered Ginny, and then she started walking again. Hermione's smile dissapeared. "Ginny, what's wrong?" she asked, walking by her. "Leave me alone, Hermione." said Ginny quietly. "Ginny, come out with it, what's wrong?" asked Hermione again, putting a hand on her shoulder. "I said, leave me alone!" yelled Ginny, and she started running towards the common room. "Ginny, wait up!" Hermione called as she started racing behind her. Ginny almost knocked over Professor McGonagoll, who was walking in the other direction. "Miss Weasly!" she yelled as Hermione zoomed by. "Girls, stop, stop, what are you doing" But Ginny wasn't listening. She hardly stopped at the portrait hole as she said 'Chinese Fireball' and ran into the common room. Ginny then collapsed on the couch and started crying her eyes out. "Ginny!" yelled Hermione, out of breath as she sat down next to her. "What is the matter?" so Ginny told her everything, and the 2 girls went through some major bonding and 3 boxes of tissues.
This next part goes with a song from the play Annie called It's the Hard Knock Life:
It's the hard knock life
For us
It's the hard knock life
For us
Instead of treated
We get tricked
Instead of kisses
We get kicked
It's the hard knock life
For us
Ginny felt much better about confessing this to Hermione, even though it was very hard. Hermione had said that Harry had been a little cautious with her too. She had suggested it was just a faze Harry was going through. "I wish it would end soon." grumbled Ginny, as she and Hermione were watching Dean and Ron play with the self-shuffling cards. "I mean, why is he cautious? He know's I love him." Hermione looked up from her book, Wizarding Ways through the years, and said "Well, Ginny, there's always an end to faze's, but maybe you should talk to him in a week or so if your still worried." So Ginny took Hermione's advice and waited a week. It seemed like the slowest week of her life. Ginny couldn't concentrate, and she kept knocking over things in Potions, which had Gryffindor losing 20 points.
It was Friday afternoon, and Harry's mood towards Ginny still haden't changed. Why did he ask me to be his girlfriend if he doesn't even like me? Ginny thougt, staring at her blank piece of parchament. "Hi, Gin." said a voice from behind her. Ron had just walked through the portrait hole. "Lo." she said in a moody voice. "What's up?" he asked, taking a seat by the Wizard's Chess board. "Not me on Harry's list, that's for sure." Ginny sighed as she set down her quill. "Still hasn't changed, Gin? Maybe you should write him a letter." Ginny sat up straight, stared at her brother and said "Sometimes you can be stupid, but right now your brilliant!"
After 2 hours and 7 different pieces of parchament, Ginny had composed this letter:
Dear Harry,
I have something very important to talk to you about. It's our relationship. It seems like you've been avoiding me, and that you don't like me the way I like you. I just want to know what's going on between us. Write me back as soon as you can, Harry.
I love you,
Ginny
Ginny read the letter again. "Ron, can you leave this on Harry's bed?" she asked. "Better yet," said Ron, "I'll give it to him myself." Ginny broke into a smile, which she hadn't had done for 3 weeks, and hugged her brother. "Thanks, Ron. I see why Hermione likes you so much." she whispered. Ron's ears went pink. "Oh, yes, well, look at the time, I best be getting off. Bye, Gin." said Ron, as he took Harry's letter and walked out of the common room. Ginny sighed. Why did having a boyfriend have to be so hard?
Yet another song by Avril Lavinge, this one called Sk8ter Boi:
He was a sk8ter boi
She said "See ya later boi"
He wasn't good enough for her
She had a pretty face
But her head was up in space
She needed to bring it back to Earth
Later that evening, Ron told Ginny that he had given Harry the note, simply as "something from a friend." Ginny sat in the common room that night, watching Harry across the room. He was playing wizard's chess with Fred, while George was talking to him about a new Quidditch tequnique Oliver had made up. Ginny glanced worridly at Ron, who nodded at her and walked over to them. "Hey, Fred, George, do you think you could talk to me a minute?" he asked. "Sure Ron." said George. "We'll be back later, Harry." They walked off with Ron, who winked at Ginny. Harry, who had finally decided he couldn't play wizard's chess along, took out the note. Ginny held her breath as Harry read the note. He looked up at her, and then walked over. "Ginny," he said, taking an empty seat, "Oh, Gin, I never meant to hurt you. I'm so sorry. I love you." Ginny stared open mouthed at Harry. He reached for her, and he was about to kiss her check when- Beep, Beep, beep. Ginny heard a faint beeping noise. She rolled over in her bed and tapped her magical alarm clock with her wand, and it stopped. Ginny layed back down, her head on her pillow, and thought, Was it all a dream? Just then a short girl with long, chestnut brown hair walked over to her. "Ginny, your brother's banging on the door. Do you want to talk to him?" she asked impatiently. "Sure, Marta. Thanks." said Ginny, as Marta left to open the door. "Ginny!" said Ron, flinging himself across the room. "Gin," he said in a quieter tone, as Marta suspiciously went to take a shower. "I gave Harry the note." "So it wasn't a dream?" Ginny blurt out. "What?" asked Ron. "Nothing. What did he say?" "Well," said Ron, lowering his voice even more, "He said he needs to talk to you. Tonight. In the common room. After dinner." Then Ron said good-bye and left.
The rest of Ginny's day went extremely slow. She didn't know if she was nervous or excited. She couldn't concentrate all day. Soon, it was dinner. Ginny could hardly eat, but she managed to get a few bites of potato down. And then, off to the common room they fled. Ginny sat down and waited for Harry. After about 10 minutes, he appeared, spotted Ginny's flaming red hair at once, and walked down to her. "Gin," he began, "I got your letter." "I know." said Ginny quietly, not daring to look into his eyes. "And, well, I want you to know first of all, I had no intentions of hurting you, and I'm sorry if I did." Ginny was having Deja Vu, this sounded vaguely familiar. "But, well, you know, maybe we weren't met to be. Maybe-" "I knew it Harry!" Ginny interupted. "I knew you didn't like me! I knew it!" she shouted, making everyone look at them. "Wait a minute, Ginny, I never said-" "Your breaking up with me! I always knew you would. You just wanted to break my heart, and you did! I hate you Harry Potter!" and with that Ginny ran up to her dorm, fuming. Harry ran after her. He grabbed her shoulder at the top and said, "Gin, can we talk about this?" Ginny whirled around. "No, we can't!" She was about to close the door when she shouted, "And don't call me Gin!" and she slammed the door in Harry's face. Ron and Hermione came up by Harry, panting. "Now look what I did." said Harry sadly, and he slowly walked back into the curious common room.
Survivor by Destiny's Child
I'm a survivor
I'm not forgiver
I'm not gonna stop
I'm gonna work harder
I'm a survivor
I'm gonna make it
I will survive and

Ginny was fuming, her face mixed with her bright red hair made her look like her head was on fire. She sat down on her bed. Ginny had known all along that Harry had wanted to break her heart. "Well, he sure did." said Ginny out loud. She placed her head in her hands and started to cry. "I never liked him anyways." she mumbled to no one in paticular. But Ginny was lying to herself. She had always liked Harry, ever since she had first set her eyes on him, and she still did. But this is it, thought Ginny. "I'll never love again." she said. Just then came some noise from outside the dormitory. "Ginny, what's going on?" asked someone. "Gin, open the door!" she heard fumbling and then someone said "Alohamora!" the door was unlocked and 2 other 5th year girls, Alley and Claira, came in. "Ginny, what's up with you?" asked Alley sitting on her bed. "Yeah, Ginny, why'd ya lock us out?" asked Claira, folding her arms. Ginny just turned around. "You can tell us." said Claira. "Yeah, Gin..." said Alley, putting a hand on Ginny's shoulder. "Get away from me!" screamed Ginny, who drew her curtains on her 4-poster bed and began crying like mad. "Should we get Professor McGonagoll?" came Alley's mumbled voice. "No, leave it to me." came a deeper voice. Ginny turned over to make out vivid red hair. "Ron, what are you doing in here?" asked Claira, shocked. "It's the girls dorm!" said Alley. "Helping my sister." said Ron, and he pushed the 2 girls out of the way.
"Come on Gin, you have to talk to me." said Ron gently, after an hour of sitting on the edge of her bed. "No I don't." said Ginny through tears. "You wouldn't understand." said Ginny.
"Try me."
"Fine." said Ginny. "Harry hates me, he always has, and he just tried to break my heart, and he succeded. Why, Ron, why?" asked Ginny. "Oh, Gin, your being silly, because Harry meant-" just then Ron was cut off. "Mr. Weasly," came a sharp voice. He looked up to see Professor McGonagoll, her skin looking ghostly pale in the dim light, "You must leave immeadiatly. You are sure you are ready?" Ron gulped, and then said in a small voice, "I'm sure." "Good," said Professor McGonagoll. "Your mother is waiting in the Great Hall." she said. "Hurry. You can see your sister again in a week." Ron looked white compared to McGonagoll. He bid Ginny good-bye, and then left. 5 minutes later, a knock came apon the door. "Who, who is it?" asked Ginny bravely. "It's me." came the voice of Harry. "We need to talk."
The next part is from the song How do I feel by Hoku:
How do I feel
Ever since I walked away from you
I miss you for real
Everyday of my life
How do I feel
Now that it's over
So the thing that I miss the most
Is missing you
"Go away!" said Ginny coldly. The door handle turned and Harry came walking in. "The door was locked." said Ginny, not looking at him. "I opened it with magic." said Harry quietly. "I don't care." said Ginny. "You don't have to." said Harry, walking towards her bed. "Stay back!" she commanded. Harry stopped walking. "Ginny, we need to-" "No Harry!" she yelled. Harry feel silent. "Can't you see your not wanted?" she asked angrily. There came silence from his spot. Ginny turned around and saw Harry staring at the ground. "Your not supposed to be here, go away." she said. "I can't." said Harry, quietly again. "And just why can't you? This is my dormatorie, not to mention a girls dormatorie, just leave Harry, gosh!" shouted Ginny. "I can't." Harry repeated. "Why not?" snapped Ginny. Harry didn't reply. "Harry Potter, I asked you a question, answer me!" she yelled. "Why can't you just leave?" "Because the person that I love the most is here." Harry replied.
