Bronnie Finishing Mower
When I bought my tractor, the seller "threw in" this finishing mower. He indicated that it was manufactured in Cedartown, Georgia by the Bronnie Tractor Company, owned by Mr. J.D. Puckett. Mr. Puckett died sometime in the early 80s, I think, and his kids decided to stop making tractors and mowers, and just sell tractors & parts.
The first thing I did was completely disassemble the deck and sandblast everything. The bearings were gone, literally. On some of them, the only thing left was the inner race, which was seized up on the shaft.
Here is a shot after I got almost everything put back together (no blades & still have to patch some holes):
Here is a shot of the holes. I have already patched the pigget one, an L shaped hole 1.5" x 2.5".
Here is a shot as of Sunday Evening (9/23/2001) where I have patched all of the holes. I bought some 12 gauge steel from the scrap yard. They even cut it for me and only charged me $1. I bent it and laid it over the original 13 gauge deck (like a second skin). Then I welded the edges and some of the holes from the underside.
I still have to re-attach the shaft for the anti-scalp roller, finish painting, and grease everything up, then it'll be ready to use.
