Resources Needed

These resources should be available for the students to use:

  • Architectural Text Books for each member of the class
  • Architecture-residential drawing and design by Clois E. Kicklighter, CSIT is the text I use.
  • Computer station for each student
  • A site license for any architectural drawing program
  • Recent CABO code books
  • Actual blue prints of homes for students to review
  • Review materials and equipment requirements on the process page
Only one teacher is necessary for this lesson.  Additional books may be found at Amazon or other online sources.

Entry Level Skills and Knowledge

At the beginning of this lesson, students will need to know how to navigate on the internet. Specifically, they will need to know how to follow a link, to print out forms, and operate Microsoft Word.

Teachers should know how to perform the tasks that they will be asking students to perform (i.e. navigate the internet, word processing, architectural CAD, etc.) Most critical, however, are skills at directing students in collaborative settings, in reaching consensus and assisting each other. Skill in assisting some students in the higher level tasks of analyzing and synthesizing information and possible home designs may also necessary.
