The Year 2000

In the month of February Mary and Holly Ann decided to check out the camp and had to leave the car on Campbell Bay Road and walk in to the cabin. They found it was a long way in and there were  some drifts that were over their heads but they went around them and finally got to the cabin. All was well at the cabin. The cabin was the same as when they  left in the fall after removing all the wallboard and installing the knee walls.

In April Jo and I took a trip to Myrtle Beach for a week. We took a daytrip to Charleston one day and visited a market that was 3 blocks long. We also took a carriage trip through the historic area that was a eye opener and very interesting. Another day was spent at Brookgreen Gardens with some old-time friends, Nancy and Ron, who now have retired to Myrtle Beach. The Gardens were wonderful filled with sculptures, gardens and wildlife. We took a boat tour and along the way alligators were sunning themselves on the shore. There was the biggest sun dial I have ever seen and the time was right. We spent some time with Nancy and Ron just reminiscing.

In the spring after the snow had melted the driveway was  flooded but the wallboard was delivered. It was a exceptional year for high water. By the time Jo and I arrived  in May the children had most of the wallboard up, spackled and painted. They also got the water line in before we got there.

In August Jo sister Genevieve from Maryland  came to visit and also Jo sister-in-law  Marge with her daughter Terry and her husband Dale from Michigan  can to visit. We had a great time eating, shopping, eating, visiting and eating. Onebedtest2.jpg (20398 bytes) afternoon we went shopping for a new mattress for Genevieve room and we all were  trying the mattresses out which made a good picture and had the salesperson wondering who these people were. We went to Montreal to visit  St Joseph Oratory and Notre Dame Basilica. They were worth the trip to see these wonderful sites. There are pictures below. After the sight seeing we went to a Polish restaurant to have our supper,cigarettes2.jpg (19776 bytes) eating again, named Stasia's. The food was great and they had many large posters hanging from the ceiling with sayings, but one stood out that spoke of the merits of cigarettes or you might say where to put them. All the posters were in Polish.
