Chapter 1 - Existence

The Void of space. Blackness. Vast and infinite. No obstacles to impede
or collide with. No light to be blinded by. Absolute emptiness. Total
silence. In this void was one, whose heart of darkness, if there ever
was such a heart, would consider this the ultimate freedom. One who
would be content with the emptiness of the void. One who knows not of
the need for others. One who claims to be one with the universe. One who
believes to be the epitome of existence. One who would be content with
the state of solitude.

Chaos.

From the beginning of time, she existed. Believing to be the first
consciousness to exist, she claimed rulership of the universe, of
existence itself, of time itself. She would not have it any other way.

But fate would not have it as such. Perhaps another being, God if you
will, declared that the void of space must be filled. That existence
belonged to no one being alone. That the universe is not to remain
shrouded in blackness forever. As such, the cycle of life began, and
Chaos would never be pleased once it has begun.

The beginning of life was a most rude awakening to Chaos. One so great
and powerful, she would be beyond overwhelmed, so much as to curse the
moment forever.

A flash of light, peering out of the blackness, and the most powerful
explosion ever in the universe, devastated Chaos' ideal existence. A
phenomenon so great, it could have destroyed any previous physical
entities if there had been any. Perhaps one astronomers of the twentieth
century would eventually call, the Big Bang. No longer will the universe
be in darkness.

After the destructive force and the flash faded, the cosmos became filled
with matter and energy. All of it reformed and changed, and for the first
time in the universe, order came into existence. Masses of gas and heat,
called nebulas by astronomers, began to take shape. One nebula in
particular developed pockets of whirlpools, caused by gravity of unknown
origins. The pockets drew in the gasses and heat, and formed new masses
in their cores. At the very heart of the nebula was the greatest mass of
all. So great was its gravity that the resulting pressure causes its
gasses to begin what is scientifically known as nuclear fusion. From
the very core of this mass, a new light emerged. A star was born. The
timeline of the era, circa 4.6 billion BC.

But that was not the end. The heat and light began to stir. The star grew
and brightened. Starting off red, it slowly turned yellow. Solar activity
began to play - flares and prominences danced on its surface. Sunspots
dotted around it, and flares shot heat and gas out into space. The star
manifested a new being with a conscience - born from the first starseed
in this part of the universe. He came to be known as Apsu, and shared his
name with his star. While the star shone bright in the physical realm,
the consciousness radiated in the astral plane. Existence now took hold
on more levels than one.

For eons Apsu and his star bearing his name were alone, surrounded by the
remaining gasses of the nebula in the physical realm, with a full view of
the universe from his seat in the astral plane. But soon, other forms of
existence were taking shape and life. In one other whirlpool pocket, a
new body came into being. Unlike the star, its light was subdued, and it
had not emitted as much heat. It also began to slowly solidify, until it
became solid rock, and it soon was covered entirely with water. The first
planet was born. On this planet, another starseed brought forth another
consciousness, Tiamat, who named her planet after her. The star Apsu thus
becomes its sun.

Apsu and Tiamat soon knew each other, but of no one else. For being the
only two in this part of space, they assumed dominion of it, crowning
themselves king and queen, and danced to each other's delight, as Tiamat's
planet circled Apsu's star. They shared their dominion for a time, but
soon, they will be joined by others.

Another whirlpool pocket formed another terrestrial (rocky) planet. One
not as large as Tiamat, but began to circle Apsu at a greater speed from
being much closer to the star. It too had its starseed, and soon, Mumu,
the lady of speed and wisdom, was born. Being in the midst of Apsu and
Tiamat, she momemtarily disturbed the king and queen's loving bond, but
eventually they accepted her as their first born child, soon being
delighted of their bundle of joy as she raced around Apsu. She formed
a bond of her own with her father, her cute chatter being music to his
heart, and he appointed her as his personal advisor.

Mumu was not their only child. Soon thers began to emerge, this time in
pairs, as though each pair were sets of twins. In the midst of Tiamat
and Mumu, two more terrestiral planets formed, each only slightly larger
than Mumu. From their starseeds, Lahcmu, the lady of war, and Lahcamu,
lady of love and beauty, were born. Being of opposite facets to each
other, they competed for their parent's affections.

Beyond Tiamat, other planets formed as well. Two great planets formed,
but unlike their terrestrial siblings, remained gaseous, as if they
were failed stars, but nevertheless grew to enormous proportions, each
surpassing Tiamat. They also formed enormous rings around each them
along their equators, perhaps as mockeries of crowns as a symbol of
their rule of size. Each too were made homes to starseeds. On the larger
planet, Kishar, lady of firm grounds, was born, and on the second planet,
whose rings were more magnificent and prominent, Anshar, lady of the
heavens, emerged.

Further out into space, another pair of planets emerged. While the
prevous pairs born had little in common between them, this pair were
truely twins, formed in each others' image and likeness, and both were
entirely watery, as opposed to their purely gaseous and rocky siblings.
As like their siblings, starseeds took refuge in these planets. On the
inner one was born Anu, lady of the skies, and on her planet's twin,
was born Ea, lady of the deep waters. Being twins, they formed a close
bond between them, expressing warmth and affection to each other, and
eventually, gossiping behind the backs of their siblings.

This new family was a hideos travesty in the eyes of Chaos. Her hatred
of the beginning of life had grown into fury with the emergence of this
new solar system. She would not let them share her existence, she
declared, and schemed to depose of them once and for all.
