Chapter 3 - The Celestial Battle
The sisters kept the pact of harmony so well that a closeness formed
between them like they've never felt before. Mumu, who once kept to
herself after her father's disappearance, became more open, though
still remained shy and talked little. Lahcmu and Lahcamu no longer
quarrelled, and instead had friendly challenges of game and sparring.
Kishar and Anshar had learned to respect each other's space and now
chatted amongst themselves complementing each other's qualities. Anu
and Ea reinforced their closeness, but now also mingled with their
sisters.
Behind their backs, Tiamat could not bring herself to forget Apsu.
Her sorrow soon grew to anger, and her loneliness drove her into
conceiveing a child of her own, hidden away from the sisters. She
named her new daughter Kingu. This did not remain hidden for long,
as Kingu would also form a celestial body of her own - Tiamat's moon.
The Moon Kingu grew to disapprotionate size, which disturbed the
sisters.
"Mother! What are you doing? How did you bring up another child???"
asked Mumu with exasperation. "I shall do as I please. With Apsu gone,
I am ruler of this dominion! You must all bow to me!" declared Tiamat.
"And this child" pointing to Kingu "shall be my heir, and your
conqueror!!!"
"What do you mean!? We did not want father dead! We only wanted--"
said Lachmu, who was cut off by her mother.
"SILENCE!!!" yelled Tiamat.
"Mother please!" pleaded Lahcamu.
"Wha... what's happening?" said Kishar, feeling the plane she's
standing on becoming unstable.
"It is Kingu! She is violating the plane of existence!" said Anshar.
"Mother! Don't do this!" said Anu.
"FOOLS! THIS IS YOUR PUNISHMENT FOR THE MURDER OF YOUR FATHER!!!" shouted
Tiamat. Her body then began to change into a monster, Metallia. All the
sisters shuddered in fear. "And now my dear Kingu, you shall deal justice
to them. You are the child of Metallia. Let your wrath avenge Apsu!"
she said to Kingu.
"Yes, mother!" answered Kingu.
"We have to stop them! Everything will be destroyed!" said Anshar.
"Ea, use your power again."
Ea tried the same sleep spell she used on Apsu, but Metallia was
unaffected. "Huh! No!" said Ea in panic.
"Anu, what powers do you have?" asked Anshar of Ea's twin. Anu took
a glance at Metallia and Kingu, but then only shrunk back in fear.
"Kishar! Lahcmu! Lahcamu! We have to do something!" pleaded Anshar.
"We... can't" said Lachmu meekly, a stark contrast to her arrogant
nature. Anshar felt hopeless.
"NOW, FEEL OUR WRATH. WHAT???" Tiamat stopped short when an intruder
approached them.
"Huh? Who is that?" asked Ea.
"I don't know." answered Anu.
The intruder closed in on the family, then looked straight at Metallia.
Metallia looked back in rage. "Who are you?" she demanded.
The intruder held a strange object in her hand. It was small enough to
fit in her palm, and was shaped like a pen. She raised it up, murmured
an incantation in an unknown language, and energy began to flow around
her, during which a strange emblem, that of a disk flanked with wings
and having a cross inside it, appeared on her forehead. When the aura
faded, she was adorned in a garment of strange design. It consisted of
a short sleeved white blouse with a red bow on her chest and another
on her back, and a short skirt that reached halfway down her thighs.
On her arms were white gloves that reached her elbows. Red boots adorned
her feet, and on her head was a golden tiara with a red gem on the middle.
She then announced "You Metallia have violated the laws of existence with
the birth of your daughter Kingu. I am Sailor Marduk, Guardian of Peace
and Harmony. In the name of the universe, I shall punish you!" At that,
a new planet appeared from the depths of space and approached the family
of planets. This was Marduk's planet, named after herself. It's size was
halfway between those of the planets Kishar and Anu. It was red, belching
fire and emitting radiation. Metallia was outraged.
"HOW DARE YOU!!! NO ONE VIOLATES MY RULE!!!" Metallia shouted.
"Who gave you the right? What kind of leader rules with cruelty and an
iron hand?" said Sailor Marduk. "What do you say?"
she asked the sisters.
"We will not bow to a monster!" said Lahcmu.
"The leader we want is one who rules with love." said Lahcamu.
"One who also rules with wisdom" added Mumu.
"And does not need to outwardly display greatness" said Kishar.
"For a true leader is given power by loyal followers" said Anu.
"Yes, a true leader earns the position" added Ea.
"If I may, I would elect you, Sailor Marduk, to rule the dimensions"
declared Anshar.
"The sisters have spoken. If you wish for me to lead the battle against
Tiamat, then I accept" said Sailor Marduk. She then approached Anshar,
and took some dust and debris from her rings, forming a moon around Anshar.
Then Marduk breathed life into it, forming another starseed, and gave the
sisters a new sibling. "Galia, you shall guard the Gates of Time. I give
you the Time Key" said Sailor Marduk, giving the new sister a staff that
bore the resemblace of a key. "Begone for now, and take your post." Galia
bowed in affirmation to Sailor Marduk. Then she faded from this space
with the Time Key, and Anshar's moon was then loosed from her orbit, and
was sent into the depths of space, forming an orbit outside that of Ea's
planet.
Now Sailor Marduk formed moons of her own. Four emerged - the North Wind,
the South Wind, the East Wind, and the West Wind. Their starseeds created
four men. Each of them was a well built handsome soldier. Sailor Marduk
then ordered them to attack Metallia.
Metallia called upon Kingu to defend her. But the four soldiers of Sailor
Marduk flanked them, and shot bolts of lightning at Metallia, who screamed
in pain.
Sailor Marduk was not done yet. She called on one more moon - the Night
Wind - and its solder, who looked grander and stronger than the first
four, flew to Metallia with a spear of light. Metallia opened her mouth
wide in a vain attempt to devour the Night Wind. Instead he charged inside
of her, stabbing her gut and splitting her insides, literally tearing
Metallia in half. Her planet Tiamat suffered the same fate, as the Night
Wind's moon collided with the watery planet, spitting it neatly in two.
The Night Wind came out of Metallia's back, and then charged at Kingu.
Aided by the first four soldiers, the Night Wind shot arrows at Kingu,
who was outnumbered and could not retailiate. Kingu was swiftly slain,
and her body shrivelled. Her moon also shrunk, loosing its atmosphere
and its outer layers, revealing a blasted, cold core. Then the Night
Wind took Metallia's starseed to the sun Apsu and sealed it in one of
the sunspots, leaving the other four Winds guarding the remains of the
planet Tiamat and its moon Kingu.
The sisters cheered and praised Sailor Marduk for saving their home.
Anshar approached. "Sailor Marduk, we wish to thank you for bringing
peace into our dimension" she said.
"I only fulfiled my duties of maintaining peace and harmony in the
universe. I shall be leaving soon for the same endeavors in other parts"
said Sailor Marduk. Anshar and the other sisters looked sad. "Do not
grieve children, you all have each other. You shall now guard peace and
harmony in your own dimension." She then approached each one of the sisters.
"Mummu, you will fight for peace and justice through wisdom. Henceforth,
you shall be known as Mercury."
"Lahcamu, your path to victory will be through love and beauty. Henceforth,
you shall be known as Venus."
"Lahcmu, your skills as a warrior will be invaluable in your endeavors.
Henceforth, you shall be known as Mars."
"Kishar, your stance on firm ground will be your foundation of justice.
Henceforth, you shall be known as Jupiter."
"Anshar, your span of the heavens will be a measure of your power, so
great it can bring death and destruction to any world if it need be.
Henceforth, you shall be known as Saturn."
"Anu, your reign of the skies earns you guardianship of the winds.
Henceforth, you shall be known as Uranus."
"Ea, your dominion over the waters gives you the power of the deep.
Henceforth, you shall be known as Neptune."
After renaming the sisters, Sailor Marduk gave each of them a stick
similar to the one she had, and each of the sisters became Sailor
Soldiers of their respective planets, all adorned with the same outfit
Sailor Marduk wore. Then each of them retreated to their planet, and
went into a state of stasis, awaiting for the time that they must awaken
and defend their planets, and the system.
Now Sailor Marduk turned her attention to the battered planet of Tiamat.
She paused over and examined it, then, split it into two halves. She
then called upon one of her soldiers, North Wind, to carry the upper
half, and the shrunken moon Kingu, to a new destiny, one that lies between
Venus and Mars. "My soldier," she said to him "keep guard the Skull of
Tiamat, for this will be the birth of a new body, a new world. From
this moment on, you shall be known as Kunzite, guardian of this new
world, and servant of its future king. Your fellow winds, the East Wind
Jadeite, the West Wind Nephrite, and the South Wind Zoicite, will assist
you in your guardianship." Kunzite and the other soldiers bowed, and
proceeded with his task, letting their moons plunge into Tiamat's gaping
wound to seal it.
Sailor Marduk then turned her attention to the lower half. With all her
might, she shattered it to pieces, and bent it into a firament, a belt of
floating debris tracing what was once the orbit of Tiamat like a bracelet,
separating outer space from inner space. She then took the four largest of
these pieces, and breathed life to them. Four new starseeds were formed,
and thus new entities were born. Sailor Marduk then speaks to them, giving
each of them their own transformation sticks. "Ceres, Pallas, Vesta, Juno,
I entrust guardianship of the asteroid belt to you. You are the Asteroid
Soldiers." They bow to Sailor Marduk and retreat to their respective
asteroids, also to go into stasis. Upon the completion of her task, Sailor
Marduk sought the newborn of the sisters in the outer rim.
"Galia, my task here is complete. Tiamat has been silenced, and her body
shall give birth to a new world, Earth. I shall leave here now and pursue
my duties in other realms. I will have you know that from this moment on,
you will be known as Pluto." Sailor Tiamat then gives Pluto a transformation
stick of her own, and she became Sailor Pluto. "Take your post at the time
gates and wield the Time Key. I now bid you farewell." At that, Sailor
Marduk departs, heading to realms unknown.
Thus the solar system has taken its final form, and the planets kept their
ways for time to come. At last, order has come to the solar system.
